We intend to visit Alberto's for a meal or two but would like some information about it. A number of questions I would be grateful if TA's could answer.

What is the best time to go for a evening meal?

What time are they open until?

How much is the snorkling trip and what time does it start and finish?

How far is it from the Iberostar?

Many thanks to all who answer these questions for me.

Kind regards

RJ

My experience is that just before sunset is the best time to go, the view is unbeatable! Sunset times depend on the time of year you go. I don't know how late they stay open, but probably as long as they have paying customers!

When we were there in May, the 3-reef tour was $35pp, plus the $2 park fee, the times are very flexible, nothing written down.

Just start walking north on the beach, you can see it from the dock, if it takes 2 minutes, you're going very slowly.

Here's a link to last trip starting w/dinner pics. What I've read today sounds like the lobster dinner prices may have gone up a bit, let us know what you find out. Mo

It seemed liked Chala set up the snorkeling trip times for when the customers wanted it. Our trip left at 10:00, and we were back by 1:00; another day he had a trip that started at 11:00 and back by 2:00. We just walked to Alberto's, caught up with Chala and set up our trip for the next day. He does like a deposit - he wanted $37 for the deposit, but happily accepted the $20 that I had on hand. He doesn't take anymore than 8 people, and we really enjoyed our very personalized trip of 6 people.

We took a trip with Chala on July 4th-it was the best on in our 8 trips to the island. Book an afternoon trip you will be more likely to see turtles, etc.

Albertos's is a unique experience (ie. eating lobster at a small beach bar watching the sunset in Cozumel). If you don't mind spending twice what something is worth, go for it. The food is decent but ridiculously overpriced. Alberto's is one minute walk north of Iberostar pier.

The food runs from reasonable to way overpriced. The grilled shrimp for $16 US was well worth it. The $30 lobster dinners were also more than enough food, but the larger tails went up to a ridiculous price. Beer is reasonable, but the mixed drinks were outrageous. Have a beer with dinner then walk back to the Ib for all inclusive drinks.

I actually prefer the lobster and prices at Chen Rio over Albertos...

Hi all

Many thanks for the comments and advice, I will take them onboard, especially sticking to the beer. I will let you know what it was like when I get back.

Kind regards

It is not only Alberto's that charges too much for mixed drinks. Most of the places in town charge between $1.50 to $2.50 for a cerveza but $6.00 to $6.50 for a rum and coke which is 80% ice. I now just refuse to pay it. Somehow I have acquired a taste for beer. haha

There are a few places where I bring my own mickey of Rum. sshh

Have a great vacation on Cozumel.
