We ( 2 adults ) are planning to travel about Cape Breton during the Celtic Colours festival . We are looking forward to re-acquainting ourselves with the area and taking in some great events. Have been successful in finding accomodation most places except Boularderie ( there for the Kelly's Dream concert) and Marion Bridge ( for the Tunes on the Mira) .. We would prefer to have 2 rooms ( bedrooms) and private baths.. Any sugestions?

Hello there, for Marion Bridge try the Mira River Cottages. www.mirarivercottages.ca and also Song for the Mira Cottage. 902 564 3433. Just a little note as well, Sydney is only about a 12 min. drive away from Marion Bridge.

Thank you; I will try the Mira River Cottages; the other one was booked. Coming from Yukon one forgets how close the distances are in Maritimes. I did try several places eg the Vespers, Annfield Manor but seems there are a lot of people looking for accomodation for the "Celtic Colours". Ideally a nice place in Sydney would allow us to go to the concert in Boularderie on 11th, and the one in Sydney and Marion Bridge on the 12th.

The Cambridge Suites in Sydney are very nice. You will pay a little more but ask for one of the newer remodeled suites. Hay...you are on vacation...you are worth it!!!

EHanson,

My wife and I run a B&B in Sydney (sorry we're already fully booked) and try to keep a tab on what is still available. If you don't mind being out of town, Bryden Manor may have a room open. It is a great B&B about 25 minutes out of town (about as far as Marsh Lake from Whitehorse) and is on the shores of the Bras d''Or lakes which, although actually part of the ocean, looks remarkably like Marsh Lake. The leaves out there will be fantastic. It wouldn't be a bad place to stay for both concerts.

If you don't mind a B&B with shared baths, Park Place B&B in downtown Sydney also may have a room available. It is getting pretty well booked.

I grew up in Whitehorse (1948-68) Drop in and say hello when you're in Sydney.
