Hi Skylady, Ok, lets see you have 2 if not 3 choices for transportation from the airport (more if you feel like expressing your inner regal self for the day, and take a limo). I'm not sure what a cab will cost you but according to Google Maps the trip is 15 Kms and about 21 minutes. There are designated cabs in the departure area of the airport... so you don't have the option of calling an outside company unfortunately. I don't usually do downtown as my destination, so I can't really quote you what they charge. Perhaps another Ottawa poster can help you out with that. Some hotels run a shuttle, I'm not sure if the Westin does, if they do it might be FREE or has a charge. I suggest you check with the hotel. And lastly, there is always the bus.... ok, you can stop laughing now :-) OCTranspo has a bus station at the airport and the 97 runs about every 10 minutes during the daytime, less frequently in the evenings and weekends. The trip takes about 30 minutes and costs $ 3.00 per adult, exact fare only. This is a good option if you don't have much luggage. You get off at the MacKenzie King Bridge (which is the entrance to the Rideau Centre). If the hour is such that the Rideau Centre is open, you walk thru the Rideau Centre and follow the signs for the Westin (they are attached). If it is later, and the Rideau Centre is closed, you walk along the bridge a little bit to the west on the same side as the bus let you off on, and down the staircase (can't recall, this one might be a spiral one) you will now be on the eastside of the canal. Once down the staircase you'll be on Colonel By Drive, the Westin is about a block to the north, a 5 minute walk. For more info on the bus see www.octranspo.com and click on Travel Planner (it will let you type in both the Airport and the Westin as your landmark destinations). Cheers! Wine-4-2 | ||||||
