Hotels near six flags? |
|
Hello, just wondering if anyone knows of any reasonably priced hotels near Six Flags in La Ronde? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me. Merci. |
|
I doubt many people will know what you are talking about if you refer to it as Six Flags. You should check for hotels/motels in Longueuil, it is the city on the south shore of Montreal. La ronde will be a few minutes away by car and the prices will be lower than in Montreal.

It's also just a métro stop away from the Longueuil métro station (Sandman hotel) or the Berri-UQAM station (where there are a great deal of budget hotels around, some scary, others all right... it depends what your definition of "reasonable" is.) I say click on the Montreal Hotels link in the upper left and do a search for hotels in the Quarter Latin and read the comments from people who've stayed there... But keep in mind that since Montreal is so easy to get around, and the métro goes so many places that you want to go, you can stay just about anywhere close to a métro station...

The Sandman Hotel, which is located about 100 steps from the metro (subway) station is a reasonably-priced hotel. I pass it every morning on my way to work, and many friends and family members have stayed there over the years. They serve a great brunch on Sundays. I would not personally recommend hotels in the Berri area of Montreal.

...as for not recommending hotels near Berri: well, it depends on what you are looking for. Many hotels along St-Hubert are very cheap and nasty, it is true, but the Hôtel des Gouverneurs is actually a much better hotel than the Sandman. And just to give a different opinion: I would never stay at the Sandman. It's a fine hotel of course, but it's also next to nothing interesting, and since I like to walk around, I'd find it extremely boring and frustrating. My morning stroll would be across huge parking lots or along a freeway, rather than down charming streets like St-Christophe or Robin, for example, or down to Old Montreal and the river. And to get a coffee or something to eat, I'd have to hop in the car or get fast-food in the bus terminal instead of heading to St-Denis street and finding a cute café with an outdoor patio. However, the Berri-UQAM area is extremely colourful to say the least. I live a few blocks from there, in the heart of the Quartier Latin, which is a nightclub-restaurant-boutique area that is lots of fun. But it is urban -- you see the good and the bad, with punks and homeless and drunks hanging about. But there are also all sorts of other people, so although it's not always pretty, it's perfectly safe day and night. I like these types of neighbourhoods, but not everyone does.

I second Tristou. We stayed at the Sandman once - tres boring. We go to the St-Denis and the Latin Quarter every trip to Montreal.

I go to this hotel, Hôtel des Gouverneurs, on Ste-catherine street, once a year for our Christmas party and this is a very good hotel, parking, good prices, and near the subway at that point you will have access to everything! quite the opposite of longueuil, which is really a suburb... have a good trip to Montréal, and of course at la Ronde !
