Since I am pretty much on my 60 days to book priority seating for restaurants, I want to know what are the 'must eat' ones that I should make reservations at now.

I already have Blue Bayou on my list, plus need to make the reservation for the character breakfast I have as part of my package.

What restaurants should I make reservations for and what meals do you recommend? I'll be there 6 days/nights so there are quite a few meals to cover!

TIA :)

What characters do your kids like? There is the Minnie and Friends breakfast which is a buffet and pretty decent. It's located in the Disneyland park. There is Goofy's kitchen with the same type of food and located at the Disneyland Hotel. I think they do both breakfast and dinner. Then there is a princess meal, but not sure if it's breakfast....I think this one is in California Adventure. I think there is one more, but I can't remember. We've done a few character breakfasts and love theme! You'll get different opinions on this one because the cost can be high, but kids and adults have a great time and photo opportunities are great! Don't forget your autograph books!

I just booked all my Priority Seating last week too!

We had breakfast at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street last year and it was wonderful.

This year we have booked for breakfast and lunch. I hear their baked potato soup is wonderful.

Cafe Orlean's menu looks good so we booked there for a dinner and a breakfast and we always go to Storytellers in the Grand Californian.Their food is good and I love the decor of their restaurant. Service can be a little lacking though!

We tried the Wine Country Trattoria last trip and although the menu is limited, we loved the location in California Adventure as it was so peaceful and air conditioned inside.

I am also going with just an adult so as Disneyland closes at 8:00 during the week, we made late dinner reservations (9:00) at many of the restaurants in Downtown Disney.

We loved our lunch at the New Orleans Cafe last December, really good Monte Cristo sammies there and Mint Juleps, also! We have also had good meals at the Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand Californian. They have a great buffet there or you can order a la carte, also. Have fun in Disneyland! :)

Cafe Orleans (AKA New Orleans Cafe) - Gumbo is what I like. Avoid ordering a souffle unless you set aside lots of time. It takes quite a while to make. Some people like sharing a Monte Cristo to keep the price down (don't ask to split it or you will be charged extra, just get another plate). I think this is where the garlic fries are served that I hear people rave about. Cafe Orleans doesn't require a lot of days in advance. 20 or 30 is safe. You might be able to book same day by walking up to the restaurant.

Storyteller's Cafe - I went with a family group in May and we were celebrating a college gradutation. It's not as childish as the name may imply, in fact it seems very grown up for lunch. I read reviews on Yelp before I went and decided based on that to order the Nebraska Corn Soup. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that since it was a warm day. But the weather didn't matter, it was great! They serve you lots of bread so you don't really need to order much. The soup was $7, but they had much more expensive things on the menu and all of the order sizes seemed huge. I used to be a storyteller in a library and I loved the huge paintings in the restaurant that show various scenes of storytelling - even a mountain man who was obviously telling stories to forest animals. The restaurant is in the Grand Californian, which makes for a nice walk through. This was the easiest place for us to make reservations.

Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - In Downtown Disney. They also have a walk up and courtyard, but I would recommend one of the rooms. Try to find out when the jazz band will be playing.

With some places like in DTD should I just take the gamble and not book?

How late do the restaurants outside the parks normally stay open till?

Most of the restaurants in DTD stay open until 10pm Sun-Thurs, until 11pm Fri & Sat. Naples and Tortilla Jo's are also pretty good at DTD.
