Hello All,

I will be traveling to Morocco in May with my girlfriend and I am looking for a cheap hostel/hotel in Tanger for 2 nights.

When I say cheap, I mean the least expensive option available. As a couple of students traveling on an extreme budget, money is very important.

A lot of places charge per person/per night, are there any places that only charge per room/bed? We only need one bed and would like to avoid paying per person rates.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

To my knowledge hotels in Tangiers charge per room, including breakfast. supplements are for a single person, or double room for single use.

What do you mean by cheap?

As you are travelling in May you will not attract peak season rates.

The area that darjani has mentioned has a lot of pensions, please take his advice and inspect rooms for cleanliness and hygiene before parting with any money. It is strongly recommended that if you are staying in the Medina that you use petit taxis in the evenings, (blue peugeot) they are cheap and plentiful outside the main season July/August.

Have a good and safe holiday.

The cheapest hostel in Tangier is the Pension Amar, just by the Petit Socco, in the Medina. They ask 50 dirhams a night, but if you are 2 people travelling together, you can bargain the price and get a twin room for 80 dirhams (excluding peak season July and August when prices everywhere in Tangier are high).

One advantage in staying at the Pension Amar is that they have hot water showers, whereas almost all of the other pensions don't have any hot water at all.

Another advantage is that the pension is also very pleasant and there are ceramic tiles everywhere, decorated like a riad house.

The last, although also important, advantage is that they don't allow single, ahem, Moroccan women to stay there.

There are a lot of cheap pensions around the Petit Socco area, so be sure to stick to your guns on this one if you need to ask someone for directions, otherwise you might end up in a dark and dingy place that you don't like.
