Hi,

I'm going to Bhutan in October. I have a question about the luggage weight for Druk Airlines. Does the 44lbs include the carry-on or is it 44lbs for checked baggage and 11 lbs for carry-on? Is your purse weighed as well?

Thanks

Deb

The limit is 20 kg for one suitcase, and mostly your handluggage is not taken on the scale. It should be no more than 7kg. Your purse is free on top of that. You don't have to take many things, as there is no special requirement for dressing at diners.

To save, you can wear your trekkingboots on the plane.

Enjoy your time in Bhutan!

Just a small tip that we discovered: if you'll need overweight, then get first-class. It allows you 32kg. The premium for first class for tourists is very low, well below the overweight charge...

Small correction -- I meant 30 kg for first class. They do not count the number of pieces, just the weight. Also, first class gives you access to the Lounge at the airport. We came through BKK and the lounge was terrific! food, drinks, and great massage chairs. Well worth the extra $.

We travelled first clas on Druk air. The plane is small with 2 slightly larger than economy seats on each side of the aisle. We left most of our luggage in Bangkok and took a Carryon size bag each which we checked in. We had more than enough as stuff as dress in Bhutan is very casual. As you will probably be travelling around I would suggest take aa little as possible.
