Pathumwan Princess - recommend? And how best to book? |
|
I am taking my Mum to Bangkok next March for her 70th birthday. We've not been to Bangkok before and I'm struggling to choose a hotel. I would like something clean, comfortable and modern in a safe location, with a pool and gym - this hotel has come up on my short-list. Do any fellow trip-advisors have any recent experience with this one? Also - from Australia - would you recommend booking through a travel agent or online independently? In all my travels to the UK/USA I book everything myself but feel more anxious here as I am unfamiliar with Thailand. |

Hi lisa31jane, I haven't been there myself but I hear real good things about it. It's quite a good location - connected to MBK shopping centre and National Stadium skytrain station. I booked my trip to Bangkok via the internet myself, I found it cheaper and no hassles and went through www.expedia.com.au which will book your flights and hotel together. I found them friendly and if I had any problems, I could just ring them and they were most helpful. Hope this helps.

Have been to Bangkok 5 times and stayed there twice. Great location - it was recommended to me and I recommend it to anyone. Very safe, convenient and worth the little extra.

Hi Lisa31jane We stayed at Pathumwan last April on our first trip and loved it. The pool is an olympic sized pool, not the prettiest I have seen, but refreshing. Very good service around the pool and a good outdoor/indoor restaurant and bar with very reasonable prices. Its location is perfect for shopping, particularly at MBK with direct access. There is also direct access to the Skytrain allowing you to travel easily and cheaply. We also enjoyed having a bedtime nightcap in the lounge in the lobby. They had a wonderful female singer while we wee there. It made for a very pleasant end to each day, having coffee and liquers and listening to the music. We booked directly with the hotel by email. We stayed in a two bedroom suite as we were travelling with two teenagers. I found that they weren't very good and replying to my emails quickly (we found everyone in Thailand to be the same!) but when we arrived everything was exactly as we requested, no problems whatsoever. I wrote a review while we were there if you are interested: tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293916-d301… Please ask if you have any specific questions. Deb

We have stayed there 5 or so times. We like it beacuse its a great hotel, excellent people, close to the BTS, next door to MBK. The pool area is fantastic to veg out around

Ive stayed at this Hotel twice in the last 3 years and found it to be fantastic. Service is good, rooms are really comfortable and clean and pool area is great too. It is right next door to the MBK shopping centre which is great if you love shopping and very central. I went with my daughter and when our arms were aching with tooo many purchases we would just go back to our room, offload our bargains and then go back down and start again. Sounds like it would be perfect for you because if your mum got too tired...it is tiring..then you could take her back to the hotel and go off by yourself for a while. I have been to Thailand many times and always booked for myself with no problems. I am going again in August and have found these sites to have the best rates. http://www.hotelscombined.com/ Hope this helps and have a great time.

Hi Lisa...I'm also going to Pathumwan Princess next year and this time decided to book on-line to save some $$$$. I have heard some great reviews about this hotel as it's very central to everything!! I booked this week directly on their website http://www.pprincess.com/ and saved about $70AUD a night compared to my travel agents price. Check out the execuplus suite...very nice and only 5,800bht ($181AUD )a night plus taxes!!!. You must leave your credit details but they do not charge you until you leave. If you cancel you must do so at least 48hrs in advance to not be charged anything!! I found them very helpful when I had questions to ask via their e-mail mailto:ppmb@dusit.com!! Good luck and let me know how you go!!
