Hi Folks,

I am a return visitor to Israel traveling in a couple of weeks, on my own this time. I arrive in Tel Aviv Monday afternoon, and fly to Eilat on Wed., so my time is limited. I am looking for a hotel in a safe and active location. (Would the Dan Panorama be good?) Since Tuesday is my only full day, I was thinking of doing the art fair/ market and exploring the city. My other option was a day bus tour to Cesarea and Haifa. Would welcome thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks for your help.

Dan Panorama has good reviews and the location is fine. It is close to Neve Zedek and art/craft market. At the foot of the hotel on Koifmann st. is the Tel Aviv tourist office. You can get there maps and instuctions on 3 different self tours in the city called the Orange Routes. This will fill your day and the beach is just a few steps away.

We just returned from a stay at the Hotel de la Mer. It is very conveniently located...about 1/4 block away from the beach...and less than a block away from Ben Yehuda. It's a very small boutique hotel, but the staff was amazing. I highly recommend them.

I understand the Cinema Hotel is wonderful. I would avoid the Dan Tel Aviv at all costs. Please do have dinner at Manta Ray on the beach, wonderful!

Your profile name is familiar, Birthright Alumni? Anyway, I love the Cinema Hotel since they have some of the lowest prices and the best breakfast. You are close to everything but far enough that it isn't expensive. You have to do Dolphin Reef in Eilat, I love the dophins there. I stay at the Americana usually since they are the cheapest, breakfast ok and the pool was just redone. As far as shopping is concerned, use your NY haggling skills since everything can be talked down, even botique stores. Save the shopping for Tel Aviv, there is no VAT in Eilat but the stores are pricy. If you have to stay at the Dan, book through them direct and join the Dan e-club for 15% off. If you have it in your budget, get an executive room since they are newer and have better amenities. I recommend Americana and Cinema but I am a Dan member and get great deals when I haggle.

I just returned from a 2 week trip to Israel. And, we stayed at the Dan Panorama Tel Aviv for part of it. We found it to be in a very good location with the most amazing breakfast buffet I have ever seen!

Hi dellarosa,

It's all very sujective this travelling thing! I agree with Soshi's suggestions in ways to spend your day. I stayed at Hotel Maxim which I loved.Admittedly I had the best room overlooking the beach, top floor on the front! Much more personal than the large hotels. Still on the beach.Great breakfast!Great price.See reviews!I walked everywhere from there too.So much to explore. I was traveling alone & felt very safe there.Loved it all& can't wait to go back. Have fun!.I want to learn more about snorkelling & diving the Red Sea...sounds awesome & this from a girl born in the Pacific! Susan

I have stayed at Maxim's years ago. The location is very good, right in the heart of "torist land" and the beach is across the street. It was renovated a few years ago.

A few words about location:

Dan Panorama is between the center of TelAviv and Jaffa. It is within walking distance to the beach and Newe Zedek, but nothing else really nearbye.

The other suggested hotels (Maxim ,Melody,Cinema) are in the middle of the city, so in terms of location they are a better option for such a short stay.

The above is only about location (look in a map). If you have some other reason to favor the Dan - go for it.
