Hi there. Hubby and I will be flying into town next week and are looking for some reasonable places to eat.

DH likes a good buffet. I've read that many recommend the Pioneer.

For pizza the consensus seems to be Mr. Hollywood.

How about for an inexpensive breakfast?

Anyone tried Joe's Crab Shack? I like seafood, but we won't be here for any of the Friday seafood specials.

Anything else you want to throw out there? We are staying at the Colorado Belle, but know that the food there leaves a lot to be desired. We won't have a car so are a little limited in our choices to this side of the river. I'd appreciate any help anyone wants to throw out there.

Harrah's buffet is very good with lots of good quality choices. They have the Range Steakhouse which is very good also. You can take the water taxi there.

Hi

We enjoyed breakfast in the cafe in the Pioneer, a very good value place to eat.

We have eaten in Joe's but not the Laughlin one and we found it was not to our taste, greasy fatty meals or cold crab.

There is a brew pub in the Colorado Belle which was value for money and a had a good meal there, can't remember the name, sorry.

The six-shooter breakfast special at the Pioneer is very good--eggs, meat, toast, potatoes for $1.99. Highly recommended.

The 99 cent breakfast at the Avi is also very good, but probably not an option if you don't have a car.

We didn't like Joe's Crab Shack. We enjoyed the cheap peel-and-eat shrimp in the upstairs bar/restaurant at the Colorado Belle, but I heard it's closed now.

Although the Orleans Room is closed, isn't the Mississippi Lounge still open? The website is still showing it open, even showing some specials there on the peel/eat shrimp. That is my fav place to eat at CB, I love the tempura shrimp, the steamed clams, the chowder, etc. I love to play VP and eat up there, I would be bummed if it closed.......We are heading out there in Dec and can't wait!!!!!

Also, I did notice some recent bad reviews of the Boiler Room, but we have had so many great times there, loved the wood-fired pizza (the artichoke hearts/tomato/garlic one) and wings, cheap and good, I hope the bad reviews were isolated and it gets back to its old self by December.

As a local, my recommendations would be:

Breakfast - $2.22 at the River Palms or Pioneer

Mr. Hollywood's place is called Papa Francesco's and is across from the Nugget/Pioneer

The Range is quite expensive.

The Colorado Belle has a very good chicken and ribs special on Thursdays.

Joes has an all you can eat seafood special. I think it goes from 11am to 3pm.

How about the famous lunch buffet at my condo......6 pack of cheese crackers and a low sodium V8! .....Pioneer good buffet with home style dishes like brisket, pepper steak, chix divan, broasted chix, stuffing, corn, mash potatoes.....Harrahs is fancier with chinese station, italian station, lots more selection of items, desert station with high end deserts like cheesecake and double decadence choc cake. Price is about 5 bucks more than pioneer....depends on what kind of food you are in the mood for. Also prime rib room at riverside has good prime rib with all the fixins in a buffet atyle for 12.99

Hi

Just reading the posts and found that bar name in the CB, it was the Mississippi Lounge we ate in and not the Boiler room. They served nice beer in there aswel as good food.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. It will give us some ideas for our trip. Polka ~ I am not so sure about the special at your condo. I think we can do better in our own pantry :D
