Hi, everyone!

I posted here a little while ago about my boyfriend and I coming to Boston on 8/21-8/24 for the Neil Diamond concert at Fenway Park. We finally have our flight and hotel reservations made! We're staying at the Omni Parker Hotel in Boston. I'm getting so excited about the trip and it's still months away!! :)

What would be the best way to get from the Omni Parker Hotel to Fenway Park on the day of the concert? It's not possible to walk there, is it, even though it's less than three miles?

My boyfriend is excited about walking the Freedom Trail and I'm most excited about the Beacon Hill area. I've been searching a lot on the Internet today. I'm so excited!!!

:) Nikki

You can walk. Cut thru the commom and get on Commonwealth. Follow this all the way to Kenmore.

You can take Newbury as well...go right on Mass. and left on Comm. Newbury will be more entertaining. Commonwealth will have the brown stones to gaze at.

I think you are looking 2.5 miles each way.

You can walk it. It might seem more manageable if you stop for a drink or a meal on the way to Fenway. If you're tired after the concert, you could take the subway back downtown, or grab a cab. But you can also take the subway to and from. The green line is what you want (anything except the "E" train on the green lilne). The Parker house is right between two stops on the green line, Park Street, and Government Center. You can also take the subway part of the way, and walk the rest.

You mention Beacon Hill. Charles Street on Beacon Hill is where most of the restaurants are for this neighborhood, and it's a really pretty street with lots of interesting shops and architecture. This might be a good place to try to stop for your "pit stop" while walking to the ballpark. It's less than halfway towards Fenway, but still. And I think a lot of the food in Back Bay (the next neighborhood) is not great, so Charles Street is a good option. There's a nice wine bar there called Bin 26 Enoteca.

There's several ways to get to the ballpark. Eileen gave you some good routes for walking. Another walking route is to just walk all the way down Beacon Street, bear left at Brookline Ave and your there. Wallking Beacon will have the Common and Public Garden on your left and Beacon Hill on your right. It is quite a long walk, so if your not up to it, just walk a block to Government Center T stop or go the other way towards Fenway and walk 3 blocks to Park Street T stop and take the green line to Kenmore stop.

Glad your both excited to come! Glad you have your hotel and all that worked out as well. Parker House is in a great location for walking or the T.

I'm sure we haven't heard the last from you yet, but if so, have a great time!

On a nice summer evening, that walk is wonderful.

Skip the hot, sweaty, likely-packed subway and walk to the show, and walk back after the show. It's about as safe as any walk you'll make in a major city in the U.S.

Thank you so much, everyone! I was hoping we could walk to Fenway, but I wasn't sure if it was the best choice. Thanks for letting me know that it will definitely be possible! :)
