I will be spending several days staying at the Candlewood Suites, 235 Wood Road in Braintree and want to get a few groceries to keep in my room. Is there a grocery store near the hotel or should I look for one on the way as I drive in from the airport?

Thanks!

There is a Stop and Shop a few miles past the mall. I am sure the hotel will give you specific directions. Even from Logan, there is nothing that is easy off, easy on the x-way.

On wood road is The Wood Road Deli. Open during the week, it has great sanwiches and soups. You can get chips, sodas and even milk here. For the sweets, Konditor Meister is awesome and is on Wood Road too.

Also, The Wood Road Deli opens at 8:00 a.m.. It has very good coffe and breakfast sandwiches. The Bacon is great. There are some passes here to work out free at Fuzion gym. You go right from your hotel to get to the gym.

There is also a Shaw's Supermarket a couple of miles from you. To go there, just go right or south on route 37 from your hotel. This is Granite Street. Granite Street will go right but don't follow it. Stay straight on route 37 which becomes Franklin Street. About a mile down Franklin, take a left onto Pearl Street. The market will be about a half mile up Pearl Street.

Many thanks for all this helpful information. I have located all of the above mentioned businesses on GoogleMaps and have a fairly good idea where I will be located, and where to go to get what I need.

I strongly second the Wood Road Deli recommendation.

When I worked up the hill from there, many of us would go there frequently, or have someone bring back to the office what eileengs2 describes. It's line-out-the-door busy at the noon hour.

Firewind: Our paths must have crossed. I am there all the time. I hate when I see that line at noon. I always forget to call ahead. They do a real nice job with the breaded chicken cutlet special. The gobbler is also a good choice.

sliced turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravey. Get it on the bulkie, not sub. This is offered every day. Don't let all the cars in the lot fool you into thinking it is really busy. People park here for West Marine and some day trip via bus thing.

Pearl Street Shaws is one option. Another involves jumping up on the x-way (i'm assuming you have a car) as though you were headed south on 3 or back up to Boston, that ramp. Follow the signs for Quincy Square and there's another shaws just up Bergin Parkway, almost to the Quincy T. There's also a Boston Market near there, which has inexpensive "family style" takeout. If you wanted to stop at this one on the way to your hotel, you'd follow the signs for Quincy Center off of the x-way, go up Burgin Parkway and it would be on your left before reaching Quincy Square. To find your hotel, reverse direction back down Burgin Parkway and follow signs for Dedham 128 and you'd jump off at the first exit. It's close but across this web of highway.

130 Granite St, Quincy, MA 02169

If you're in Quincy, there are historic sites to see too, plus a nice waterfront area.
