ServiceThe Tulip inn Trafford Center Manchester is a fine hotel.
It does not offer many ammenities but it has everything very close by for anyone staying for a week in Manchester.
It is however a long way from Manchester City Center but it is convenient to so much more.
Within a 300/500 meter radius you have the following
The Trafford Center ( Fantastic Massive Shopping Center acrosss the road not to be missed)
Cinema ( in Trafford Center)
The Chill Factor ( amazing indoor Sking Complex & resteraunts & bars)
A Fitness Center & Swimming pool ( 300-400m)
Massive JBD Indoor Football Complex ( 5 asides 300-400m)
Indoor Karting (2-3 miles easily accessable using frequent bus)
Old Trafford Football Ground ( Man Utd -4miles shuttle from Hotel 3 pound sterling)
Aquatic center nearby
The hotel itself has a very serene feel to it and is very clean and efficent with a resteraunt and small but well enough stocked bar open til 1am)
There is so much to do in the area that we spent most of our time out and about so we didnt eat there bar the breakfast which was excellent.
On the down side if you don't have a car its very expensive if you want to go to Manchester City Center or Airport ( no shuttle)
At least 15-18 sterling for either trip.
However if you don't mind travelling by bus the Trafford Center across the rounabout is very well connected to city center but STRANGELY THE ONLY BUS TO THE AIRPORT TAKES AN HOUR.
Cant understand why an amazing setup like the Trafford Center is not connected by train or metro and has to rely so much on the bus service.
Believe me when it does get connected by train or metro this area will be like a mecca to shoppers and tourists.
At he moment we found all the travelling by bus can be very tiring if you are on a budget or after a busy day.
On another note on dark wet evening it is so difficult to determine your bus stop to get off, why cant a bus driver call out the /Bus Stop name over intercom or have it automated.
We missed our stop so many time.
On a side note we found the people of Manchester ( and Liverpool) to be very friendly and helful and extremely welcoming.
Will defo go back when the area is serviced by train or even before.

The Hotel looks good from the outside, and the public areas are nice. Check in was easy, and my room was clean, largish and ok. It reminded me of Travelodge. A few things. The bathroom was the size of a cupboard, and contained the toilet and a shower cubicle. The washbasin was in the room. The shower was nice, hot and powerful. I couldn't get the heated towel rail to work, nor the light over the sink and the (double) room only had 1 hand towel, and 1 bath towel, both of which had seen better days. The desk was squashed between a wardrobe and the TV, leaving virtually no space to put down a laptop, plug it in and attach a mouse. I couldn't get the wireless internet access to operate - despite it being offered for free. I kept getting kicked out when I tried to log on. The bed in this "double" room felt like a very small double. A good job I was alone!
I ate in the restaurant, and the food was not that good - Naco's overly spicy (far too much chilli) and burger cooked towards the crispy end of well done. I went to breakfast at 9 - they serve until 9.30, and the cooked buffet breakfast that was out looked like it had been under the lights for quite some time. I didn't fancy trying it. Bread for toasting was thin sliced packet bread. Coffee was from a machine and wasn't all that good.
Sound insulation was terrible - I'd been up until late the night before, so wasn't impressed to be woken at around 7.30 by some housekeepers having a loud conversation outside my room. My alarm call was an hour early too. (The phone rang briefly then stopped - it came through properly an hour later.)
The hotel was perfectly adequate, handy for where I was working, easy if you're going to the Trafford Centre, a slightly circuitous 5 minute walk away, but was a bit expensive for what felt like a budget hotel once you look past the external appearance. This is Manchester though, and prices are inevitably higher than in more rural locations, but you might find a better deal elsewhere, depending on where you're going.
Outside it says "An official hotel of Manchetser United". You can bet the players don't stay here, unless there a secret special area rather better than where I stayed!

Service
Business serviceWe chose this hotel for it's location and were pleasantly surprised because it was easy to find, had a great secure carpark, a friendly and efficient reception for check in and clean comfortable rooms (although we might have prefered the wash hand basin to be in the bathroom rather than the bedroom). The restaurant was lovely with a varied choice, staff there were very helpful. Although it is beside a busy road we heard no traffic noise. There is no direct access to the Trafford Centre and had to walk round a roundabout over various 'green man' crossings to get there. Only complaint was having to pay £8.95 each extra for breakfast, would have been nice if included in price! Will certainly stay there again when next in area.

Business serviceFound this was a great hotel. Staff was nice and helpful, breakfast and restaurant were both very nice too, room was clean and spacious, beds comfortable, shower very powerful, TV with quite a few free channels plus pay movies for £7.90, location convenient right opposite the Trafford Center for shopping and eating out...
Would go again, for £60 odd a night it was well worth it!
However note that if you're looking to go to the Old Trafford Stadium or Manchester City Centre then you a hotel that's closer to there.
