We had a great stay at Tuaraa.
Edith & Bill were extremely helpful - telling us where to find a beach with shade, helping us to hire a quad bike from 10am for 24hours which meant we could see the island's best sunset before dinner and the best sunrise and get back for breakfast etc.
Their excellent tours specialise in small groups - essential for us. One day we had 4 people and the next day just the two of us. They also advised us not to include a picnic in the tour, which would be pricey, but to buy fresh from the beach kiosks. We had a tuna sandwhich where the tuna steak was cooked before our eyes and served with avacado and salad - delicious and cheap. In this way we avoided most of the other tours and had the 15 moai and Anakena beach all to ourselves for a while.
This isn't really a hotel - more a B&B. Our room was large and clean with a small sea view. Only one creepy crawly for the whole stay - a dying cockroach - but our room was in the midst of a lush garden so not surprising. Air con would have been nice especialy as it was very noisy at night with roosters and dogs.
All accommodation on the island is pretty pricey for what you get but we would certainly recommend Tauraa.
