i stayed here with my partner and his parents i chose the hotel as someone i knew loved their stay there last year although i was worried once i had read reviews here at T A HOWEVER i remembered that it was rated 3 star and fairly priced along side someothers of the same rating so when we arrived early after been escorted thru the enormous que at passport control we had a wait of about half an hour for our room to be finished which we past on having a drink by the bar and the beautiful beach. Once in the room the negatives were the bad taste decor (but thats only my opinion) ppl sat around the hotel below could see u ( but who sits in thier room all day ) and for the first 3 days we had only tepid warm water from our shower but i found it quite refreshing . So the positives were a large clean bright room with air con that worked whiter than white bedding and lovely clean and soft towels every day if we wanted them . We found the resteraunt and bar staff to be really really friendly and helpful except for when rthey had a day off and staff must have been sent from the grumpy and miserable agency but this was only two or three dining sessions out of the fortnight and we ate 3 times a day the food was a mixture of good and not so but im not very brave with my food and tell me how many all inclusive hotels dont serve the same menus over your stay eh ! . If u didnt hit the beach till mid day then yes gettin a brolly might not be possible but there was always a lounger for u our 2 problems on the beach was the big dip as u entered the sea it took many down and sea was reasonably rough but hey thats the sea its out of our hands and the beach vendors the ones who undersatnd no thanks have a chat and leave and the ones covered in gold who dont understand the No thanks phrase at all and if u do fall for it y ou will pay highly . the locals were mainly very friendly always a smile , wave or hello . The weather was fab only afew specs of rain all fortnight so a few more chairs in shaded areas would be a good idea around the bar this hotel closes for a few building changes and a refurb so its over all look will be better this is a small basic friendly hotel as for standards they aim high and i think they achieve them 99% of the time Over all ive paid much more else where and not enjoyed my holiday as much as i did here at ascape at the gap Barbados sorry for ramblin on get in touch if i can help in anyway with info sheff lass x x x

we read the reviews of the hotel and thought we should find out for our selves well what can i say we had a ball yes it does need up dateing and is being at the end of this month. at first we thought the staff were a bit abrupt but you have to get to no them and talk to them, the rooms are basic but to be honest you really dont want to be in them because there is so much to do and see, the beach is awesome never seen one as good. the food was a bit plain and the beer some times a bit weak but they got bottles in so there really wasnt a problem we didnt go over to the other side of the road to the other hotel because there was no beer bar, we felt totalaly safe, many a night we came in at two and three in the morn.we met some fantastic friends hiya to les and penny, john oz and lorriane, jayne and cathy. over all it was that good we came back on the 19th of may and have booked here for the same two weeks next year.

“What a sshock”

We had saved up and wanted to go somewhere special for our 25th. The first week we spent at St James Village in Antigua and it was lovely. What a shock when the taxi driver dropped us at Escape at The Gap. After making us wait 4 hours for our room in 100 degress temperature, we finally checked in and I didn't even want to unpack. We had lunch, the staff were miserable and not at all helpful.

Food was not too good although edible. Beach was wonderful although not enough brollies to go round.

After a row and a sleepless night, we finally phoned the Virgin Helpline and asked to be moved. And we did. I thought this hotel was a one star hotel, and not three.

If you were about 18 this is the hotel for you!

“What a beach!”

Escape at the Gap

What a fantastic beach! This hotel is in a prime location directly on the beach. We stayed here during march for 7 nights and then did a cruise for the 2nd week, and none of the beaches we visited matched this one. We came with our 5yr old daughter and my parents also came. The hotel is looking slightly dated, but have heard that its being re-vamped in june. The room was very clean and always plenty of hot water. The food wasn't outstanding but we could always find something to eat. We found that we enjoyed breakfast the best. Having your evening meal over looking the beach and sea was amazing, so relaxing that our daughter fell asleep there most nights. The staff seemed to become more friendlier when you made the effort to speak to them. We had no problem getting drinks and the rum punch and pina coladas were spot on. We could always get a sun bed on the beach at any time, and one of the staff puts a parasol in the sand for you. There is limited seating around the pool and could do with more. If you want to go on a trip ask one of the staff for MC. He does the turtle tour and its fantastic. Swimming in the sea with turtles. MC and Greg were great hosts. This made our holiday. Would visit again

We returned from our second visit on the 23rd of March the hotel is ready for the upgrade planned for June its looking tatty around the edges. Our first week was very good but the seconed week with the easter rush was very poor,we were made to feel second class in the Beach restaurant where tables were pushed together to accommodate families us as a couple were pushed into corners. The barbacue night on the second week was a total fiasco with nowhere to sit. Some of the Staff were very ignorant choose how much please or thank you it made no difference,Marsha in the Beach restaurant was not only ignorant to guests but to her staff as well.On the upside the beach is top class the room although basic was spotless and there is plenty of hot water for showering. We met old freinds from 2006 and made new ones. The Bar staff were excellent and although the draught Banks had a few problems the Coco Rum and pineapple was excellent. All said we had a very enjoyable 2weeks but would miss the easter break next time.We will return in the future.Advice is go with an open mind dont expect 5* and you will enjoy.
