PLESE PLEASE PLEASE do not go here. me and my husband went last week for our honeymoon. This was not what we were sold so beware of this when you book. We were shown pictures from the lifestyle tropical beach spa across the road. The hotel across the road is lovely. We were in the garden hotel it was awful. The pool was dirty, the staff didnt want you there or to be there them selves, the pool bar was filthy and our room well what can I say. I will be posting photos when we get them developed. Our room was terrible, the floor was black from dirt I had to keep my flip flops on my feet at all times. Felt dirty when I got out of the shower. The ceiling had holes in it. The phone had no wires attatched to it and our room was not the only one. 20 people moved from this hotel in the fisrt two days that we were there and luckily enough we moved too but had to pay alot to do so. If we didnt move then my marriage would have been over. This was a honeymoon from hell. When we moved we went to a four star hotel which was amazing. Dream come true. The rep didnt want to know why we were moving and didnt try to resolve the problem. You are probably thinking why didnt they just stick it out? It would have made me ill. I couldnt eat the food. The food was so cold and under cooked and the drinks tasted funny because nothing was ever cleaned out. When we got to our new hotel we noticed that the bar was cleaned all day and the drinks machines were emptied and cleaned every day. I am not a snob but I do have standards and no one should ever have to lower them standards. We were miss led so if you are sold this hotel and you like it then thats good for you. We hated it and I dont want anyone to have to go through what us and many other couples did. We had to comfort so many people who were so upset because they hated it and felt helpless because they were so far away from home. Us and the 20 people who moved were lucky that we could afford to move. We know people who couldnt move and this was heart breaking. Please read reviews and make sure you are getting what you were sold. We also found out through the VIP reps that this hotel is being demolished around the 25 October 2007. So they are just running it into the ground.

We went for a fortnight on the 10th of jan06 and we really enjoyed it,quite a contrast to the weather in the uk! I would highly reccommend this holiday to couples who like to relax in the resort or go to the beath, however,if you have kids or want to go shopping i'd sugest you go elsewhere as there really isnt that much entertainment. Our room was great and kept tidy by the very friendly maids. The food was nice the first week but got a bit samey towards the end of are holiday but we were both happy with it's standard and we both were more than happy about the 2 pools, they were very spacious and very clean. All in all we both enjoyed are holiday and thought we got a very fair deal but not to sure wether we would go back as there are a few better hotels in the dom rep.

“Don't do it”

I really don't know where to start. Our two weeks holiday was ruined by food poisoning (still not properly recovered!). On arrival we found out we could only eat in a couple of places throughout the hotel, which contradicted booking details. The buffet was home to blackbirds flying in and pecking at food, if the flies had left them some that is. The segregation of the British and Americans was quite shocking.
The 'rooms' well huts are not properly air conditioned there is just a fan on the wall. Ours broke down after the first week therefore we had to move huts, when we got there we only had a double bed, I went with my mate so we'd booked a twin room. We were told there were no other huts available therefore we shared a double bed for the last week, considering how ill we were this was not ideal!
The entertainment left a lot to be desired. Although the team put in a lot of effort it became quite tedious.
The rep certainly had his hands full due to the large number of complaints he received. I did feel a bit sorry for him.
The most positive thing has to be the weather, considering it was the rainy season it rained once in the whole two weeks. The pool at the Gardens is nice but often you will see birds mess swimming along next to you.
I certainly would not recommend this hotel. It really was two weeks of hell sadly. To ensure our holiday ended how it started, on the plane home the toilet paper ran out 4 hours into a 9 hour flight. With a bad stomach...well i won't go into details!

“Never again”

We booked this hotel because it was offered at a small discount , this put the price on par with Tenerife. We wish we had taken tenerife.
We arrived late at night, After being shown to our room in the Beautiful Gardens we were promised but didn't live up to brochure. We thought we were victums of a joke, But the joke was on us. As we where tired we went to sleep.
The pools where nice, The staff ok. We had to eat in the tropical resturant, This was ok. But half way through our stay it was decided that that green band holders (gardens residents) Could not use this resturant. There was no notice of this. We were removed from the resturant told we couldn't eat there. It was one of the most embarassing experiances of my life. We relised that we stayed in the CHEAP seats.
When it rained we found out our room wasn't water proof, no matter where we moved the bed to it always caught the water.
The beer was weak and all the spirts tasted of Moonshine.
When we packed to go home we found that the clothes that were laying on the shelf were covered in paint from the shelf.
After staying here i relise that if something seems to good to be true, it probably is. I would never recomend this to anyone.

“Quality holiday for a three star!!!!!”

Hacienda Garden Resort

For a three star hotel it was excellent and exactly as it says it is in the brouchure. Check in took ten minutes tops and we were in our room within fifteen. The receptionist was efficient and helpful with all our queries throughout our stay.
The holiday rep was approachable ( and having been on all inclusive holidays for two decades, says alot about the type of people that were working in the hotel). The bar staff were keen to please and very quick with the refills and learning our choice of drink!!
The pool and surrounding area was cleaned everyday, with the gardens being kept tidy throughout the day.
The rooms were equipped with the essentials, air- conditioning, tv ( with satellite) and window panes!!!! They were perfect for the amount of time you spent in them.
Entertainment in the evening was amusing but they tried!! Day time games were a good laugh. There were different themed parties by the beach bar, for example bbq, paella, coconut and marangae dance.
Food was themed every night and there was also a'la carte restaurants to choose from. The Chinese restaurant being the best quality and choice.
FANTASTIC value for money and would recommend to other couples and groups.
