I am glad I did not read the reviews here before I went on our trip.

We booked the trip for my boyfriend and myself. My boyfriend was on leave from serving overseas and this was our first chance to spend some time together alone in over three months.

We arrived in Punta Cana with no problems other than a woman passing out whie walking around on the flight and smashing her head on the chair....

We got booked into our room with no problems and loved our room from the moment we saw it. It was a large suite with two bedrooms and balconies on both sides of it. (we were on the second story but not in a loft)

Our room fridge was stocked everyday many times a day. We left the stock guy $5.00 on the first day and came back to find so many beer in our fridge that when we opened it one fell out and smashed...oops!!!

The food was excellent for buffet food and I only got sick once because I ate way too much.... Take peptolbismol with you because if you have to buy it there its $18usd for a medium size bottle.

We did the safari trip and we loved it. If you plan on going on tours take candies for the young ones who will chase your bus for a little sweet treat.

The beaches were amazing and every night after the supper the boyfriend and I would go for a swim on the completely empty beach. Thats right after dinner no one was on the beach at all. I guess once the sun goes down everyone heads to the disco so thats the perfect time for a romantic moonlight swim.

The sales people in the markets are con jobs lol.... One guy told me he was cheapy cheapy and then asked $20usd for a necklace. I told him I could get the same thing at Canada's Wonderland for $5cad and he brought his price down but he wasn't happy about it....mehhh, oh well. There are good deals to be had but you must barter which was hard for me since I would just get frustrated and walk away. The boyfriend loved it though.

The staff is very friendly if you are friendly to them. If you have any thing that you don't need leave it for the staff as the average salary is around $80 per month and they do a lot for the little they do make.

Last and most importantly remember your holiday will be what you make of it. If you go in worrying and stressing you won't have a good time but if you think about what you have at home and what the people there have and you look at how happy they are you'll appreciate your trip a lot more....

Also don't get your hair done on the beach. Get it done in town as its a lot cheaper. I got braids, extensions, a bottle of mamajuana, a doll, a giant painting, and a box of cigars for $180usd but on the beach they wanted $200usd just for the braids and extensions.

The rooms were clean & spacious but decorated from maybe the 1980s. ( 2 rooms & 4 beds and 2 balconies). But the grounds were spotless & the vegetation lovely.

The ability to use the Golf resort & all of its joint properties was great. (4 resorts in total.) The food was actually great for an all inclusive. Loved the restaurants overlooking the ocean. (Highly recommend the beef tenderloins. Yum!) The beach looked as you see in the pictures for a Caribbean beach. (Topless women and all.) And the price was very right. We were only there for a day & we got in as part of the package- paddle boat, beach, pool, mini golf, and, of course, meals. We really used the resorts.

It is a big place but they have a trolley. ( We had a car so we were more mobile than most. ) But I suspect after 3 days you would despense with the trolley & just walk. I would go back for the price I paid. It could be a lot of fun either as a couple, a family, or a group of friends.

This resort is part of a complex, it has a very small pool but is within close walking distance of a few others with better pools. The beach is nice, and there are plenty of sunchairs. There are no floaties for the pool or beach. Hardly anyone spoke any english, and that includes the guests. Nighttime was noisy, and tv is pay per view or spanish channels only. Food is fine, typical AI fare. Our TV pay per view wouldn't work and the front desk made me pay for 2 movies that we didn't get when I checked out.
The beer and wine were pretty good but there was no sparkling wine or decent mohitos available. All the mohitos were made with a liquor that tasted like creme de menthe instead of fresh mint.

Loved it ! We had such a great time! Be aware that when you arrive at Punta Cana International Airport, you will be hit with a $10 fee to get into the country! Thankfully, we had cash on us to pay for that! We got to the resort and it was raining, and the staff was very helpful in getting us to our rooms without getting too wet! These rooms are by far the best on the entire complex, especially if you are travelling with children! All of the other rooms in the other hotels are just standard hotel rooms. The top floor is the one with the loft, but after that much walking around, it was nice to have the bottom floor! It was nice to have the tram, especially with my 2 yr old! He LOVED the choo-choo! However, it did move slowly. The food is regional, so don't expect too much "american" type food. It took me a couple of days to get used to it! The activities are pretty muich all in Spanish - we found that this resort is big on local people, Spaniards and Canadians. Not very many English speaking people - Brush up on your Spanish! The staff is wonderfuL! And the grounds are absolutely beautiful! At the end of the property, just past the Premium complex there is a flea market which you can buy your souvenirs at a much cheaper price than at the gift shops on resort property! As a final note, make sure that you pack your sunblock, but if you are susceptible to mosquito bites, bring repellant. My son and I had bug bites, which I don't mind, but was not going to pay $20 for a small can of OFF!.
