My husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter stayed at Round Hill for one week. It was the most amazing place we had ever stayed anywhere in the world. It is truly "Heaven on Earth" at Round Hill. From the time you're picked up from the airport to the day you check-out, you are catered to your every whimb. The entire staff (concierge "Hadly", check-in staff, room service, waiters, waitresses, hosts, maids, bartenders, lifegaurds, sporting tour guides...etc) EVERYONE went above and beyond their call of duty to make our stay enjoyable.
Once you check in Hadly shows you to your room (we stayed in the pineapple house, room 123A). Every room at the pineapple house has an ocean view, every night when the sun goes down you can capture the stunning Jamaican sunset. Hadly shows you to your room, bell boys carry & bring your luggage to your room, aand from the first moment you walk into your room - you will be impressed!
Our room had a KING size bed with beautiful wooden bed frame. Romantic bed curtains that draped on each side (see pictures!), they placed an extra full size bed in our room for our daughter, which was awesome. The bed was extremely comfortable with white egyptian linen sheets & a cozy down comforter. The bathroom was amazing also... everything was contemporary. The shower was unique, made to be a "rain shower" shower head, huge bath tub that could probbly fit 2 1/2 adults, huge mirrors (2 mirrors) and of course a safe to lock valuables & belongings (free of charge).
The "chill" area of your room comes with nice open & shut windows. If you open it up, you get a panoramic view of the ocean and an over-look of the edgeless swimming pool below. There was a coffee table with travel books and magazines for Jamaica, and an ottoman/L-chair (sorry, don't know what it was called) and a cool chair to sit & enjoy the view from your room. Just a little heads-up, there is NO TV in any rooms (well, in the pineapple house). There's a TV lounge next to the dining area with a huge big flat screen TV. I think they did this because they'd like you to be out & about on your trip, insted of staying in the room couped up - it's actually better that way. But if you want to watch a movie in your room at night I recommend bring a portable DVD player or your laptop to watch DVDs. It's a must have if you bring children here!
For children 3 & up, there's the Pineapple Kids club. You can drop your kids off here and the ladies will occupy them while you're out & about having adult fun. They also offer babysitting & nanny services. If you want to go off the resort premisise for dinner or something else, you can pay for a nanny to watch them. I think it was like $15 an hour, & an extra $20 if you're out past midnight (cause she'll need a ride home).
Now let's talk about the FOOD at Round Hill. Mm mm mm, it's out of this world deeeee-licious! I think I gained 5 lbs from staying at Round Hill for a week because they feed you so darn good. Every night during the week is different (during dinner). My favorite was Wednesday night - "dinner on the beach", LITERALLY! The staff set up tables & chairs, dinnerwear & tiki torches. We ate our dinner 2 feet from the water rushing up the sand. It was amazing. That night, it was an all you can eat buffet, shrimp, fish, lobster tails, pork, steak, porkchops, ribs, salads, side dishes to the max, sweets, cakes...etc. Too many to try to remember, ha ha. Other nights you'd sit at the dinner table in the dining area. Everyone would greet you formally by Mr. or Mrs. (Last name). They pulled your chair out for you, placed your napkin in your lap for you, poured your water & drinks for you. You literally get treated like royalty at this resort.
I think my favorite mel of the day at Round Hill was breakfast! You are greeted & seated. Then you can go to the buffet & ask the chef to cook an omlette or eggs how ever you choose. Theyy had fresh fruits, juice, coffees, cereal, pancakes, sausages..etc too many to list again, ha ha. Every meal was spent over looking the ocean - I mean EVERY MEAL, brekfast, lunch & dinner! Almsot like, there's no way of not seeing the ocean, ha ha.
Fun at roundhill... you can snorkel & take a glass-bottom boat ride for free. You can rent the sail boat or rent kyaks to have some fun. The beach is right off of the dining area. You are hand given beach towels. The lifegaurds give sand castle making toys & buckets to kids on the beach. There are 2 floating docs in the bay you can swim to. You can climb up on either one, lay a towel down & sun bathe on them. So fun! The edgeless pool is located beneath the Pineapple house where we stayed. There's a small child pool area (1 feet deep) and the edgeless pool is overlooking the ocean. Lounge chairs lined up perfectly with white towels awaiting you. 2 bars at each end of the beach for you thirst quenching needs (try some Red Stripe Mon!).
Wanna get some alone time in the morning without the kids? During July Round Hill offers a tennis clinic for children. It's free! Just make sure you bring their tennis racquets & some tennis shoes. The snorkeling at Round Hill is great! You jump off of the dock and swim out about 25 yards and discover dozens & dozens of marine life! Also, when you walk to the spa area, check out the cave! It's right off of the pathway, it' so cool. We had to hide out in the cave one day cause it started downpouring rain for 45 minutes - but it was so cool! I've never seen it rain so hard in my life! It was a great experience.
Oh yeah, I don't want to forget! You will fall in love with the Jamaican strawberry jelly! HA HA! I can keep going on & on about Round Hill. Feel free to contact me if you wanna know more!
