“It was only... The Best Vacation Ever!!!”

Sandals Royal Caribbean

Absolutely loved the place. All of the staff were extremely nice and friendly. If you are in love, then Sandals is the only way to go.

We did nothing the first day exceopt lounge on the beach and at the pool and the day lasted forever. It was fantastic.

The main pool area was great if you wanted entertainment with other guests. We were looking for something a little more intimate, and found that at the Cricketer pub. The guys there were great and entertaining. The are other advantages to the Cricketer, but you must discover those on your own.

All of the restaurants are good as well, although we did not eat the French one. The Royal Thai is an experience all visitors should enjoy. Make reservations a few days in advance. Breakfast can be had in room or at the restaurant, either way is top notch.

If you are punctual person (me) you may get frustrated by Jamaica. Everything is always a few minutes or more late. Get over it, you're on vacation. Once you accept this, your vacation will be great. Just relax and everything will be fine. Yeah, mon.

The water sports area is very cool. The snorkling was fantastic. You must go at leat once.Again try to book at leat a day in advance. The Chukka tours were also great. we did the Canopy and the horseback riding tours and the guides were fantastic as well.

There is only one warning I have. Bring lots of sun block and use it frequently and drink more water than you think you need. The included alcohol will dehydrate you if you are not careful, as will the sun and wind.

If you are willing to spend a little more try to get Room 1 or 2 (see photo). Although it wasn't the nicest room in the resort, it had the best access to the beach and good views of the ocean and weddings. The east side of the resort is also the quieter side as well.

This was our first romantic vacation since the kids were born and I highly recommend Sandals Royal Caribbean. We were so relaxed and relieved that although we were sad to leave, we left completely satisfied.

The massages were very good as well.

If you are looking for relaxing warm location without having to hear kids beign kids, this is your place. We will go back to Sandals, although it will probably be to a different site, only because we want to see a different one.

I also suggest booking your own airline tickets. This allows you to contact the airline directly instead of working through Sandals' air travel department if you have questions or need to make changes.

My wife and I wanted a nice relaxing vacation, and that is what we got!! We really enjoyed the Royal Carribean, I plan to do this again in 5 years or maybe before if afforded the opportunity. The butler was wonderful!! The Grill was addictive, all the fried stuff you could want!!...My wife and I do not drink, so we enjoyed unlimited virgin slushies!! There was pools that was not crowded where we could relax and enjoy the water!! The Concierge service was amazing!! The rooms were nice, sometimes the floors were moist from the condensation from opening the balcony door (very hot in Jamaica)...Turndown service was really amazing!! Can not wait to go back and upgrade to a Suite, I can not imagine how those rooms are as Our Grande Luxe Beachfront room was very nice!! A+++,The food was really good, however my wife and I was not a big fan of the Thai restaurant, alot of people enjoyed it, but We have had better thai in Virginia..But the experience at the restaurant was very nice...The French restaurant was our favorite, it is right off the entrance of the lobby..very elegant, and the Pavilion Restaurant was good, they made something for me that was not on the menu!! Awesome!! My wife and I really felt like royalty!! We will travel there again!!

“Perfect long weekened getaway!”

This was our second time at Sandals Royal Caribbean but our first trip was only one night, so I opted not to review that visit.

We got married at Sandals Whitehouse last month and wanted to return this month for a quick honeymoon since for most of our trip last month, we had family & friends with us.

SRC is a great little hotel that offers a smaller property with tons of charm. There is no way I could compare SRC with Whitehouse, as they are in two totally different categories.

We have only experienced the Honeymoon Beachfront concierge suite at SRC. The room is small, with a nook for breakfast. TV directly across from the bed, two nightstands. The bathroom is a decent size with a whirlpool tub that fits one person well, two.. not so much. From our building (the 200 rooms) we had a gorgeous view of the quieter pool and the ocean. I would have enjoyed being on floor one instead of two, simply because I could have walked out from my room and been at the pool or beach. Second floor offered great views though. The bar was stocked with gin, rum & vodka. I stuck to coke & water from the mini bar. :)

The beach is pretty small at SRC. Most people don't use the beach though, so it's easy to find a piece all to yourself. If I remember correctly there are 4 beaches separated by wedding piers. One of those was not something I would want to swim in, the other three were fine. I wouldn't swim in the one because it was covered in sea grass. Not much fun. The private island offers one piece of beach that is a lot of fun to play in. However, this is also the portion of the beach that the clothing optional folks like to use. It's a shame too because that area is really nice. If you get out there very early, you have about an hour before they start showing up. The main portion of the island is nice for the bar & pool, but the ocean is a bit rough.

The food at SRC isn't great. We found some things that we really liked a lot but were generally unimpressed. That didn't dampen our spirits though because even if there wasn't anything terribly delicious for breakfast, the lunch snack bar always offered easy & quick snacks. (nachos, empanadas, hot dogs)

If you are looking for a hotel with delicious food, you will be let down at SRC. As stated before, you will find some things that are great but for the most part, your burgers will taste like fish, your cake is stale and your choices are limited.

That would so not keep us from coming back though. We always have a nice time finding a quiet place in the gardens or hanging out in the ocean.

Also, the peacocks are so fun to watch. Right now they have 4 baby peachicks that walk around with the momma peahen & two peacocks. There is a third peacock with a massive tail that wanders around too. So much fun.

I would definitely go back to this hotel because the small size makes you feel like family & the ocean is just steps from your door.

Great place. Just back from our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Staff were all so friendly and should be paid more as they work so hard. Went on 2 trips outside the hotel. Bob Marley's house in nine mile. A must have for any Bob fan. Saw all real rasta people. Dunn's waterfall was a good day too. Great choice of restaurants and bars in the complex. Always somewhere open to eat and drink till 3 in the morning. Thought the americans were a bit OTT. Complained a lot about trivial things. We just went with the flow and joined in all the fun that was to be had. Were the only Irish there which was a pity 'caus there's no direct flight to Jamaica. Could do with a few to liven up the place, but we got on well with few English that were there and especially the Jamaican's who were as mad as us. Hope to return next year with another Irish couple who'll abuse the red stripe beer like we did. ha.

“Great Intro to Sandals!”

Sandals Royal Caribbean

Jun 29, 2008

My husband and I stayed at SRC June 23rd - June 28th and it was our first time at Sandals. I was nervous after seeing some negative postings, but for those of you like me, there is nothing to worry about!

First, though the process of getting through immigration is long, they really have it down pat and the line moves pretty quickly. As soon as you get past, you're directed to the Sandals lounge where they tag all of your bags and you relax with big comfy sofas and chairs, clean nice restrooms, and fresh fruit, Red Stripe/Red Stripe Light and Coke products while your transfer is prepped. We were only there for a moment until we were called for our transfer. They arrange a porter to take you to the transfer and they have absolutely no problem letting you know they make money from tips. The bus drive wasn't nearly as harrowing as I expected and, in fact, was comfortable and felt very safe. (Be sure to tip your driver, too, as he doesn't work for Sandals either.)

When we arrived, we were greeted by the front desk and invited to sit and relax with either champagne or rum punch while we were checked in... what a lovely greeting! After a quick check-in, we were walked to our room by our bellman with him pointing out various features of the property.

Our room was in the Glamis building. It had a nice patio overlooking the lawn and we could see the ocean and the wonderful hammock in the shade. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, but was just a little old and tired. It was very difficult to get the water at a great temperature and was usually either screaming hot or rather chilly. This, along with the two windows that had only plantation shutters and no glass were the only two bad things I can say.

The restaurants: Once you arrive, if you are interested in Royal Thai or Le Jardinier, make the reservations as within the first day you get there. We, frankly, enjoyed the Pavilion most (Jamaican), but there is nothing too spicy, so don't be afraid. The Regency is set beautifully on the deck of the main building and the food is worth checking out. I would then say do Royal Thai (Khamar was the best server we had there); it's one menu, with various smaller entrees. There are definitely some spicy dishes here. Le Jardinier was nothing too special as far as I could tell. The setting is gorgeous, but my pork was tough and the potatoes relatively bland.

For breakfast, do the Regency buffet and don't forget the watermelon juice - it is absolutely delicious. For lunch - skip the wilty-looking buffet and opt for The Cricketers Pub. Khalil was our server several days and was great. When we encountered him on the grounds, he remembered us and was asking how we were. The food is kind of traditional pub fare, but in reasonable portions. Also, if you're in a hurry, do the buffet; you may wait a little while for your food.

The diving guys couldn't have been better - we had our own private "dive tour guide" with John Wayne (seriously, my hero!). My husband uses a lot of air, and the second day, he made sure he was on our dive and even prepared a tank that let my husband have more bottom time! The dives were great and we saw eels, lion fish, and rays.

The beaches are small, but are so relaxing. At the main beach area, you are within a stone's throw of a beach grill (basic fare) and the world's best bartenders. If you don't know what you want, they'll make something for you. Be sure to ask for a Bob Marley (shot) and Jamaican smile (cocktail) if you're unsure. The pools are also great and towels are available all over the resort. Be sure to take a swing in the hammock - it is well worth it.

If you want "community", there are lots of activities designed to get you meeting others, but we were more interested in doing our own thing, and were never interrupted from that, either.

Finally, we recommend the Chukka Canopy Tour as an off-site activity (if you MUST leave). It was a great, exhilarating tour and the tour guides there are incredibly entertaining.

We are already looking forward to our next Sandals vacation. We would certainly consider SRC again, but we are also interested in new experiences, so if we don't return it has nothing to do with SRC. However, if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with a lot of pool and beach time, this is your place!
