“EDUCATORS GROUP 2008”

Royal Decameron Montego Beach

This is our second time visiting RDC. I visit RDC IN 2005. We arrived June 18- 22. Our experience this time was a blast. We took time to enjoy the resort and venture outside the gates. We had a party of 18 people who joined us this year. Six of us are returning vacationers.

We are very pleased with the cleaniness and friendliness of the staff. I did miss the last entainers that was there in 2005, the new entertainers are okay but a little immature with the crowd and playing around.

Activities are very entertaining, would I recommend this hotel, "yes."

We will be back again, maybe this will be our vacation home (smile).

“Another GREAT time at RDMB!”

Royal Decameron Montego Beach

This is my first time posting my experience with RDMB, so I thought I would share.

I read alot of the reviews written about the Decameron, some are very interesting but this is one place where you need to see for yourself.

I'll start with the CHECK-IN: This is the only bad thing I'll have to say about the resort. We arrived before 10:00am and didn't get our room until 4:00pm. In the beginning the excuse was that our room wasn't ready. That couldn't have been true because guests that started arriving after us were whisked off to their rooms.

To be honest, I think that the ladies at the front desk forgot about us for whatever reason. When we walked back to the front desk to check on our room for the 100th time, the lady finally told the other worker to give us our keys. Keep in mind by now it's 3:59pm so our patience had run out hours ago.

In the end, we had a big room with a balcony with a good view of the ocean and the stage that featured the entertainment. So I guess waiting all day for the room paid off.

The STAFF was always pleasant and fun and made sure that we were having a good time. Which we were!!

The FOOD was pretty good. Don't be afraid to try something different. If you don't like it, then just find something else that you may like. You won't go hungry that's for sure.

OUTSIDE THE GATE: A simple "no thank you" will help with all the vendors/panhandlers that will try to sell you any and everything. But make sure to get out and see the Hip Strip. If you need a ride, look for Nigel he's the man to take you around and he's really nice and he's not expensive.

The DRINKS: Were good and I didn't have many sober moments. (LOL)
most of the bartenders can make their own "special" drink(s). Try one and enjoy!

The ENTERTAINMENT: they have the best entertainment here! Everyone is energetic and fun and makes sure that you are having a great time. Don't be afraid to participate.

THANKS to the following special people for making our vacation FUN!!!: Kiwan, Dwight, Pebo (aka the comedian), Mark, Sassy, Jada, Kimberly,O'neil, Smiley, Jerome, John, Seymore and Shaka Zulu.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR!! thanks for all the FUN!!

“Fantastic”

We spent 2 wks at the Royal Decameron for our honeymoon - it was fantastic!!!
We were a litte concerned after reading the reviews but take it from us we could not of wished for a better resort. Those americans expect too much!! Hotel staff were very friendly, food gorgerous, rooms exceptionally clean and fresh, everywhere from the beach to the bar to the resturant was very well maintained and clean.
The only fault was the weather! As a sun worshiper it was a little too overcast for me, the times that we did see the sun it was roasting!
We made some great friends during our stay (Steve & Niki) and left with some very happy memories of our honeymoon. Already planning a return trip to RD later this year!
We would give this hotel and its staff 10 out of 10!!
We loved it.

“Excellent Resort”

Royal Decameron Montego Beach

4 of 5 stars

We stay at the Royal Decameron from April 12-26, 2008. There
were 5 of us, we had two rooms, one couple had a room with a king size bed and we (my husband, daughter and myself) had a room with 2 double beds, pull out sofa, table chairs, and both
rooms had a balcony, they were on the 3rd floor. The rooms were very clean, spacious and very comfortable, always had hot water in the full bathroom. Check in was fast, we arrived at 9pm on Saturday evening and they had everything ready for us, we went directly to our room and then they told us to right to the buffet restaruant as they were waiting for us for supper. The service in the restaurant was excellent for the two weeks, we had the same table, it's a tradition that we have when we travel, we like to keep the same table for each meal. At each meal there was a large variety of food to choose from, the staff were clean and the hot food was hot and cold food was on ice, there was something for everyone, our daughter is a verry fussy eater and we brought food with us but she did not have to use that and took it home with her. We ate at the a'lacarte two times and we ate at the snack bar numerous times for lunch, all the food was very good. There pools were very clean and the beach was cleaned daily. The service at the pool bar was not good, they catered to the young ones, if you were 19 female you got served right away, other than that you had to wait, the two other bars were better. There are lots of lounge chairs and it never seemed crowded there. We did some day trips, deep sea fishing, caught a tuna, and baracuda, was a great time, duns river falls it was great, would recommend this to everyone, these were arranged through the travel rep. Then we hired a taxi (make sure the taxi is licensed usually a red license plate, we got this tip on trip adviser) and went on a tour of the mountains and to the appleton rum factory, the mountains are very steep and lots of very sharp turns, but it was great to see how people lived, lots of poverty. We also used the same taxi for a trip to seven mile beach in Negril, and also went to ricks cafe and watched the cliff diving. would recommend this also. We found it a little cheaper to hire the taxi for these tours and we decided when we went, where and what time we went back to the hotel.
The hip strip, there are lots of shops, check out the prices, then make sure you barter with them as the first price they give you will be way toooo high, they expect you to barter. Would recommend you go in pairs when walking on the hip strip and there will be lots of people asking if you want to buy drugs, just a no thank you and keep walking and that is all, they will leave you alone. Used the banking machine on the strip and had no problem there, also went to banks, while with the taxi and had no problem cashing travelers cheques, use your passport for
ID. Overall we had a great two weeks there, the weather was great, hot everyday 28-31 daily, it rained only once and for short time. Would definately recommend this resort to couples and singles of all ages. There were people there with children, there are two pools, but not one for small children. Overall, had a great time and would go back, it was the ideal location for us.

“Fantastic Holiday”

Royal Decameron Montego Beach

After reading previous reviews I was worried as I had already booked into the Royal Decameron. I'm 23 and my girlfriend is 21 and we had an amazing time.

The view from the room was out of this world, the rooms were clean, fresh and of a nice size for the two of us.
The majority of the staff were nice and polite and were very welcoming upon arrival.

The entertainment team was great. Zulu was hilarious and had us up dancing all the time.

Food was good, especially the beach grill in the day time.

If you want a day trip then the cool running trip is fantastic.
This starts with a morning out on a catamaran then snorkeling in the sea. After this you are taken to Dunn's River Falls to climb the 600ft high waterfall.

People who say going off the resort is dangerous are lying. We went off most days and were at ease walking around, if people ask just say “no thank you” and they will leave you alone.

Overall this was a fantastic holiday and I would recommend this to anyone.

Make sure your next holiday is to the Royal Decameron and you won't be disappointed.
