“Tying to Reason with Hurricane Season!!!”

My wife and I had a 5 night stay at Goldeneye after Dennis, and during Emily.
The resort is like living in the Garden of Eden. Unbelievable tropical growth and ultimate privacy throughout. Our two bedroom villa actually consisted of three buildings, a thatched roof hammock shelter, and our own private cliffside lounging and sunning area.
It took us about a day to slow down to the rythm of Jamaica and the resort, but it was the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken.
The food was fantastic, Jamaican and spicy, but we liked everything that we were served. Lobster, shrimp, beef fillet, fresh fish, pork, lamb, and local fresh fruit and vegetables.
If you are looking for a place with lots of action and nightlife, do not go to Goldeneye.
If you want to unwind, wade out to the coral reef 15 feet from shore, snorkel, kayak, eat great food, drink wonderful drinks(thanks Kilron),
be taken care of like never before, experience the most loving and considerate staff, by all means book now. There are big plans for expansion, so go now before it changes. As someone else said, disregard the cost, and just do it!!

Truly one of the special places that God created on this earth........

“screwed up our honeymoon...and just didn't care”

Goldeneye Resort

Last spring, my husband and I embarked on Goldeneye for our honeymoon. We had gotten married at the Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica (highly recommended) and then traveled to Goldeneye the day after our wedding.

They screwed up several things and to this day, we still don't know who was at fault (Goldeneye or the travel agency though we think Goldeneye). They didn't have our reservation (thankfully, we had all our paperwork), hence we didn't get the room we reserved and when it did become available, the reservationist had told my husband that 'he didn't want to mess up two reservations, he'd rather only mess up one' (ours!...and keep in mind the other two couples were not honeymooners and both were there for just a few days)...they had another couple in the villa when we arrived and then another couple arrived mid-week. They told us we'd have it mid-week only to be told the above. It was frustrating. The room we paid for was exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon, not a villa meant for a group. Though I will say that they did move us from the lagoon to Villa 3 (much better for us) when we they didn't put us in Villa 1.

After we left, we attempted to reach the hotel for about 8 weeks to discuss a reimbursement we felt was worth the trouble. They were absolutely terrible and non-responsive. We eventually had to dispute it with our credit card company. Please hope all goes well with your trip so you don't have to rely on them for anything after...I would have expected a lot more from such an exclusive resort.

We really tried to make the best of it...this was our honeymoon afterall. We went to Ocho Rios and swam with the dolphins which was amazing and we loved our house guy -- he was really fantastic.

The food/drinks were phenomenal. Food variety would have been nice..we had the same thing for dinner several times. And our last night there, they forgot to pick up our food from the TV room...the next morning there was an ant infestation.

The rooms are very nice and clean. The beach is also kept very neat.

We wished that you could actually swim in the water at the beach or a pool for everyone to use. The only real place to swim is the lagoon. We went jet-skiing and it was a little intense...it was so windy the day we went that we got thrown around and one of the jet-ski's broke down (it was the guy's who took us out) so we had to tow it back in. There was no offer to take us out again because of the circumstances.

During our stay, my husband and I wished we had just stayed at the Rockhouse. 3x cheaper and 100x more worth it.

I was so thoroughly disappointed that a year later, I'm writing this. I simply expected so much more from Goldeneye. I will never recommend this resort to friends/family/anyone...just not worth the money. I've been to plenty nicer places for much less with better amenities and services.

“Best Honeymoon!”

Quiet, rustic, gorgeous, lush and luxurious. If these are the qualities you seek in your honeymoon this is the place to go. My husband and I were exhausted from planning a destination wedding in negril (we highly recommend Moon Dance Villas) and we needed a place to escape. Goldeneye was perfect! We spent our days exploring the beautiful beach, grounds and the trees various guests have planted. (johny depp, naomi campbell, harrison ford...too many to name) We recommend visitng Noel Cowards Home and Harmony Hall. Evenings were spent watching Bond flicks by candle light drinking scotch and recreating scenes...

“best place for a honeymoon!”

Goldeneye Resort

My husband and I spent a week at Goldeneye for our honeymoon after getting married in Negril. We loved the west side of the island, but Goldeneye is gorgeous! It is such a hideaway that our cab driver couldn't find it!
The staff is amazing (thanks especially to Dale, Nicholas and Clayton!!)- it's as if they know what you are thinking and are always a step ahead of you!
The food is awesome- I am a vegetarian, and a slightly picky eater- but the chef always had a meal prepared perfectly for me. My husband said the lobster is to die for.
Although we had an amazing time, it is not the kind of place for action lovers. We had been very busy planning and prepping for our destination wedding and we needed the respite, but there is not much to do on the grounds, and Oracabessa is not a happening town.
All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone who can afford it (it's on the very pricey side) for a vacation of a lifetime!

“A perfect place for a romantic anniversary”

My wife and I spent 5 magical nights at Goldeneye to celebrate our 20th anniversary and in a word - WOW!! There is nowhere like this place and given the imminent expansion plans, I would encourage all to visit soon because this place is special just as it is.

You feel like you are in paradise the moment you step onto the grounds. The private beach is absolutely the best in the Caribbean- and you have it all to yourself. This place is totally secure (there are no local vendors allowed in). You can walk the entire grounds anytime without a concern. The entire staff is excellent and they all provide service that goes well above and beyond in all respects.

The food, authentic Jamaican cuisine, was amazing at every meal and while the menu is set daily, the chef was happy to accomodate all our special requests. Hats off especially to Nataleene.

Goldeneye is exactly what it claims to be - it is not glitzy, and night life is low key. If you are a couple looking for a special, quiet, romantic beach holiday with excellent food and service this is the place for you- we hope to return soon.
