I have traveled all over the Caribbean and Mexico and stayed in everything from very basic to luxury properties. This place was just fantastic. The property and cottages and lovely and we became quite close to several members of the staff. We also met quite a few fellow travelers from the States, the UK and Australia and everyone we talked to couldn't have been happier! If you're looking for deluxe accommodations with a lot of amenties, look elsewhere. In a sea of huge all-inclusive resorts that seem to be taking over the Caribbean and speicifically Jamaica, County Country offers a wonderful alternative. In my opinion, I don't understand why anyone would stay at one of the large all-inclusives in Negril; Montego Bay, Runaway Bay, Ocho Rios, etc. are much better suited for that. Negril is one of the few places in Jamaica where tourists and Jamaicans mingle freely with one another. Also, there are so many restaurants available that it's fun to try new places in the evening. Country Country does have a restaurant on site that offers breakfast (fantastic and included daily), lunch and dinner along with drinks but we only had breakfast at the hotel. The hotel's section of beach is really nice, too. We walked quite a distance in either direction and didn't see another place that looked nicer than Country Country. I would recommend a stop at the grocery store (Hi-Lo is the largest in Negril and has the most selection) and stock up your fridge with soda, Red Stripe, rum, etc.; you can save quite a bit of money doing this. We also bought bread, lunch meat, mustard, chips, etc. to have a few quick and easy lunches right on our porch. We never ran into a major issue with bugs (although there had been enough rain to have them around) which have been mentioned in some previous reviews. Screens are not used much in the Caribbean because they rust so quickly. I would recommend closing up your shutters at dusk when mosquitos are most active. Another negative mentioned in some earlier reviews is Margarativille. First, this is not at all the fault or problem of Country Country and, to be honest, most of the employees we talked to would prefer that it not be so close to them but we were never kept awake once by it. A couple that we met from the UK that had been there are over 2 weeks said that they were kept awake quite late on their first night which was right toward the end of college Spring Break season. After that, they didn't notice any major noise late at night. I would say that a stay here would probably not be ideal during the brief 2 to 3 week college Spring Break period but, other then that, this should not be a problem. People need to realize that you're not in the States and there aren't noise laws like there are here; the Jamaican authorities won't do anything about a bar making too much noise.
In summary, highly recommended and would definitely stay here again. Enjoy enjoy!
