“Good times at the wind chimes....”

My husband and I and our two very young children stayed at the Wind Chimes Inn for four nights, January 29-Feb 2nd. It is a cozy, beautiful little hacienda in the heart of San Juan. Only a short walk to Condado beach. The staff are helpful and knowlegeable; anytime we needed something, they were there IMMEDIATELY. I have heard that some rooms are very small, tv's are small, etc. However, we had a beautiful King room with a decent sized tv and a little kitchenette. It was cozy and comfortable. There was a fold out futon for our 4 year old to sleep on, and the front desk staff immediately brought extra sheets and blankets for him. The food at the Boat Bar is very good, as are the drinks! It was easy to take a short walk to Bebo's Cafe, the bus stop, the beach or a drug store. I felt very at home at the Wind Chimes and would definitely stay there again.

The only imperfections: our room was right next to the boat bar (as my husband says, the bar was in our living room--we actually had to walk through it to get to our room) and it got a bit noisy in the am for us 10am risers. The noise at night didn't bother us. Also parking is VERY limited; you can pay $10/night if you have a compact car to park in the tiny gated lot---but there is only space for 4 vehicles. Otherwise, you're fighting for space on the side street, which is no easy task.

I loved the Wind Chimes and have wonderful memories there now. Will probably stay again on our next trip!
I am in love with Puerto Rico.

“Charming Small Hotel - We Loved It”

My husband and I stayed at the Wind Chimes Inn, San Juan from 1/30/08 to 2/2/08 prior to departing on a cruise.

This is a charming hotel with an attentive staff. The room was not large but very clean and pleasant. We had Room 106 on the first floor just off the courtyard.

You enter the hotel thru a wooden door just off the street. There are about 8 stairs leading to the entrance foyer. The front desk reception is off to your right and although small it is still functional. There are french doors off the reception area leading out to the small pool and water fountain area.

There are two floors to the Inn but we didn't explore the second floor. After checking in, we went directly to our room down a small hallway to a courtyard. The courtyard had small tables and chairs and lots of potted plants. There were also large concrete fish sitting by the potted plants.

The rooms are small with colorful bedspreads. Each room has a ceiling fan and a/c. The bathroom is exceptionally small with a shower only. All the floors are tile. The room was clean and comfortable and suited our needs for a 2 night pre cruise stay. Even though there is a three night minimum, it was cheaper for us to do that than to pay over $280 a night elsewhere.

Breakfast isn't included but can be purchased at the Boat Bar in the rear of the property. Very friendly staff at the bar. The A5 bus to Old San Juan is close by and easy to use. The beach is very close and easily walkable from the hotel.

I would stay here again. There is only one drawback and that is the lack of restaurants in the area that are within walking distance.

“Comfortable in San Juan”

This was our first vacation to PR and the accomodations at Wind Chimes inn were very nice for a less expensive room (120/night). Staff were helpful and pleasant (printed off our boarding passes). Room 108 was smaller but clean. Fan & AC worked well.
Pool was small and cold. The sister hotal (Acacia) had a hot tub that was warm at best. Traffic was loud at times. Balcony/sun deck was a nice area to relax in. Boat bar was convienent and pleasant.
Condado beach area was rough surf. Best beach area was by the mariott.
We took 2 days and went to Isle Vieques, ferry from Fajardo (2$/person). Beautiful island and beaches. Stayed at "CASA ALTA VISTA" in Esperanza. Nice hotel. Very helpful staff.
Very nice little town. Blue beach was the best. Navio beach was also excellent. Need a 4-wheel drive!!
Next time we wil stay in Esperanza. Perfect island experieince. Wild horses have run of the island. FUN!

“Loved the Inn”

This is a great charming Hotel. If you request room 120 you even get you own private terrace overlooking the pool and sun deck. Ginny and the staff are excellent. Getting around was easy. Don't take cabs to Old San Juan. Instead walk to the bus stop and for .75 take the J21 bus. Also for Bacardi Tour. Tak the j21 to Old San Juan and then take the .50 ferry and then a $3 shuttle. Total cost is $7 for one person round trip. Also EB Tours has a great trip to the Rainforest and to Loquillo Beach which is beautiful. Again I would retun in a heartbeat. Great job Wind Chimes.

“very small and expensive”

The room we were given was very small, so small too people could not fit in the bathroom and my partner and I are petite.
The room only fit a full size bed, but it appeared to be more like a single and we could barely fit our luggage. The room was not well ventilated and we felt as if we did not have privacy as the curtains would often move with the fan or air conditioner, so we put shoes on the curtains to hold them. Our room faced directly another room.
At night we could hear people in the bar and the ice machine was constantly being used.
Additionally, the room was not swept and I complained to the front desk about the room not being swept although we stayed there for 4 days. I think we paid a steep price, as we paid 140 for this room.
The television was very small, about a 10 inch.

Too bad we had this experience and cannot recommend it to our friends who will be visiting the area in the Spring.
