In 2 words " Simply Wonderful"

Just returned from this Fabulous hidden gem and our overall stay was wonderful.

Just one hiccup though, the room was not the one promised and thats my only complaint. I did received an email 2 days prior to our departure from the uk to eastwinds, confirming we had been allocated room 27 the largest of the Ocean View Rooms.

On Arrival at the hotel we were greeted by Gareth the hotel Manager and the receptionist who informed us we had been given room 29, I questioned why not the room promised and the only words spoken were "its occupied" .Tired after a long flight and the airport tranfer by private car of an hour and a half, I let this go by and thought lets see what 29 is like. I was very dissapointed with the room, it was tiny and there was a smell of drains and the fridge kept us awake all night.

The next morning we contacted reception, who without hestation offered to move us to another room but without an ocean view as all the others were occupied. After viewing room 20 we were happy to change as its was very spacious, spotless and there was a wonderful double semi outside shower which was fab. Loved to butterfly cushions the bed too.The fridge was located on the terrace outside so no noise was heard from it at night. The only compromisedwas "" NO Ocean View"" something I had been dreaming of.
This was my first visit to the carribean. But hey ! "What the hell " we were having a wonderful time and I wasnt goint to let it spoil things. ( The guests who arrived on the same flight as us were given room 28 an Ocean View room, next to our 29 and they moved the next morning for similar reasons to us.)

The room was kept imaculate on a daily basis, towels changed daily, beech towels changed daily, It was as if the maids were fairy's as you never saw them, they seemed to know just when you were in or out!!! fastinating.

The Butterfly cushions on the beds were so nice, i just had to buy them. They didn't stock them in the eastwinds shop, but they should do as a few of the other guests has purchased them too and told me where to buy them from . Its a little shop in Castries called "Bagshaws" .

The Restaurant and food. It was all very good. We chatted with Vincent the young chef most evenings and saw him regulary buying fresh fish on the sea shore from passing fishermen selling their daily catch of Dolfin Fish and Tuna.
Breakfast was buffet and Lunch was mainly buffett and BBq with the odd steel band thrown in !!! Just to set the mood.

We ate lunch everyday in the gazebos outside, they are a must to every east winds guest. We were served most days by Chris a young St Lucian Guy who was always very freindly and could always answer many of our daily questions about what wines he had, what the fish of the day was and of course what the special cocktail was. He was a mine of information about what St Lucia had to offer.
The Bar in the club house was hosted by Titus, the Thats where the saying Top Banana came from!!! He was also a really nice guy and we told him if he ever gets chance to visit the UK he can stay with us.

The Staff, Well The "Top banana " has to be Crythansus the restaurant supervisor. He was a shy sort of guy. I just have to mention just two of many really nice things he did for us while we were there. We were walking around Castries and he pulled up behind us and offerred me and Peter a lift in to town, we were amazed atfer all the guests he must see, he even knew us from behind!!!!
Also on our last night I was chatting to him about the local rum, The very next moring on his day off he came to find us the club house and he had bought us a bottle of the chairmas rum!!!! How nice was that.I would say its was over and above his job description!!!

The Owners George and Marilyn and their family were present during some of our stay and they certainly brought plenty of life to the place! One night Marilyn got one of the Male guest up to dance and all the rest of the guest s and staff joined in too. Shame there wasnt life like this every night. Come back Marilyn!!!We also met some Freinds of George and Marilyn in our second week they were from Calgary and full of life too. I think The Canadians are a bit less old school than the Brits.....

Wne, Champayne, Cocktails, Beach, Pool, Swim up bar, Sunsets, Kayaks, Snorkleing all great. We will probably end up Being" repeaters ".

We also have made some really nice friends too. XX

It's difficult to add to the previous reviews of East Winds without repetition, because it is everything that TripAdvisor members say about it. Beautiful location, fabulous food, comfortable rooms and a haven of calm. A top place.

The best thing about it is undoubtedly the staff, who are determined to make your holiday something to remember; helpful, friendly and, above all, always smiling.

It is also a place that looks completely natural, and certainly a place to look at the local flora and fauna. The hotel has created an arboretum in the grounds and published a booklet for guests to see them all and to have the name of that perfect flower. And the place is alive with birdlife; at least 38 species we were told, but 20 or so visible from our sunbeds.

So thank you East Winds for giving us the opportunity to unwind and make the long journey worthwhile.

My wife and I have recently returned form a one week stay at this wonderful hotel. The accomodations were perfect, There are only thirty quaint cottage like rooms. Each one only a few moments walk from the beach. The resort is very private and with only 60 guests it is easy to make friends. The Windjammer is close by and is in stark contrast to this hideaway. It is much more busy and noisy. We enjoyed our privacy and quiet. Golf was close by and absolutely everything can be arrranged by the front office. We took a day tour of the island and a catamaran ride back. The staff recommended this tour and they were very helpful. The manager, Gareth, who has been there for over 16 years (I think) was always available and made sure everythiing was just right. George and Marilyn, who are involved in the operations of the inn also made sure that everyone was look after. We were all made to feel very special. The staff were amazing...always smiling, and always pleasant. The food was great..the chef is from France (M. Dividier)and matches the wines with the meals. If they didn't have something, they would arrange for it. Lobster and Steak night was delicious. I was expecting small little rock lobster etc but we were amazed that they were better than we could get at home. This was one of the best "relaxation" holdays we have had..."just what the doctor ordered!

“Lovely Eastwinds”

A lovely small, personal hotel with brilliant friendly staff.

Rooms:
We had a standard room (semi detached single story cottage) which we felt was fine. We were happy with the ceiling fan, we didn't feel the need for air conditioning (which is in upgraded rooms).

Beds:
Very comfortable.

Food:
Brilliant, my boyfriend doesn't eat fish and on a couple of nights he struggled but generally a good selection and very tasty. Brilliant selection of caribbean vegetables. Pancakes at breakfast just perfect.

Snorkelling:
Not as good as we hoped. We did see two turtles whilst we were out kayaking though!

Walking options from the hotel:
Limited, possible to walk to the Windjammer resort but really you needed to catch a taxi or a bus to go anywhere from the resort.

Wifi:
Free wifi in the bar (great for itouch and iphone users!) and a pc in reception.

Pool:
Never crowded. Help yourself pool bar.

Beach:
Lots of shady areas, only criticism would be that they did not serve drinks to the sunbeds - you had to go to the bar - but now I just sound lazy! Try the fruit punch (no alcohol) or the rum punch if you prefer.

Bar: Brilliant bar staff, really friendly and more than willing to talk you through the caribeean rum varieties! Board games for entertainment. Champagne served between 7-8.30pm.

Entertainment: Subtle caribbean style entertainment every night.

My wife and I just returned from a week at the East Winds Inn in St. Lucia. Our stay there exceeded our expectations on every level.

The cottage style accomodation was clean, beautifully appointed with generous space. The bathroom had two sinks and a huge step down shower with good water pressure! We especially enjoyed sitting out on our cottage's patio looking out at the wonderful gardens.

The beach was secluded with lots of shade. Perfect for a mid afternoon snooze. Our favourite part of the day was watching the sun set.

The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. The outdoor restaurant and bar were elegant yet casual. Our favourite evenings were the two bbq nights especially the lobster and steak dinner.

Our stay at East Winds was a true joy. Great food, service and accomodations. A truly first class experience. We will be back.
