Surrounded by sailboats on the beautiful island of Tortola, I knew I had to get on the water and experience the famous surrounding islands nearby.
The 80 foot schooner "White Squall" was docked in the Marina of our hotel. Everyone said it is the best experience on the island.
So, I signed up to depart the next AM.
Greeted by able Captain Chris, I was helped aboard this massive vessel and met the other guests while being offered a rum punch. Why not? I am on vacation!
The day was gorgeous, and the view from the boat was like a fairytale. We went to two islands and snorkled under the guidance of the friendly crew, Debs and Piers.
Lunch was served around noon on the deck and was delicious and served with a delicious wine. Who wanted to go home? I hope to return and experience this perfect day again in the near future.

I've been out on the Whitesquall II for day sails twice now, once this year and once last year. Both times it was the best part of my trip to the BVI. The Whitesquall II is a beautiful historic schooner, with room for everyone to be comfortable either in the sun or under an awning in the shade. Cold drinks and fabulous rum punch are provided, as well as a very delicious grilled lunch with salads - it really hits the spot after snorkeling! The trips vary, but always include great snorkeling spots, they provide all of the equipment you need for snorkeling and make sure it fits well, and they will teach you if you don't know how. Even though I'm a great swimmer, I had never snorkeled before and was a little nervous my first trip, but they made me feel completely at ease. In addition, you have the option of snorkeling with a partner or following one of the crew members on snorkeling excursions, which is great because they dive down and show you things, explain what you're seeing, and make sure you're doing okay. The crew is very friendly and genuine and professional, and they work hard to make sure everyone is having a good time. On my first trip there was a baby on board, and they were really good about making sure the parents had lots of help and a comfortable spot for the baby. This is an amazing group of people who will make everyone feel at home. The Whitesquall II is the real deal for a day sail experience in the BVI - especially compared to those motorized "party yachts." Tip - if you have Captain Chris, sit near the speakers, he has fantastic taste in music and it will really add to your experience.

We had been referred to White Squall II by friends and it was a great recommendation.

We had arrived in Tortola on a cruise ship and were able to walk from the port to the dock where the White Squall ship was located.

We had gone out for the day where we did some snorkeling, swimming, lounging in the sun, sailing, drinking and laughing.

The ship, weather, food and crew were all awesome and we would all do this again.

There were eight people in our group and regardless of size of group I can say that anyone would enjoy themselves.

It was difficult to find a day sail that would accomodate a group of 28 ~ but the White Squall 2 - did just that! We set sail on a gorgeous day from Virgin Gorda and headed to Cooper Island. The crew was absolutely fantastic, making sure everyone was comfortable, safe, and having a great time. We stopped at Cooper island to snorkel , which was definitely worth while, and then they served a fantastic lunch on board! The crew was very knowledgeable about the islands, and the vessel which we found fascinating. We truely felt catered to, and would highly recommend this trip , or any of the White Squall trips, to anyone headed to the BVI.
