Torres Gemelas is ok is you want a place to sleep. I spended most of my time in the old Acapulco and la Caleta. Acapulco is a wonderful place to be at.

Alot of the people that are staying there it is because they bought a place mostly italians (they were not very polite). As a person who only stayed there for a week I can tell you I did not feel welcome. I was sitting by the pool on a chair when one of them came and tried to take the chair that i was sitting on. If you are not part of the click forget about it.

The pools were ok abit small since it was most of the time over crowded. On the week end it was full of mexican from Mexico city enjoy the warm sun with their family it was a real delight to look at the kids having fun.

The beach is not the best being between rocks it often made the waves stronger then elsewhere, I do not recommend swimming there with small children or simply with unexperienced swimmers. To go to the beach you have to go down very steeped stairs and dont expect the hotel worker who are sitting down on the stairs to get up so you can be near the wall. People working at the beach are not the most friendly people.

Langage was never a problem in town shopping and restaurants, eventhough I dont speak spanish and alot of them were not able to speak english or french but we always found the way to understand each other. (I even shopped for sandals since mine broke and it was a 14 years old who answered me I showed her what i wanted told her I was a size 9 and looked on a chart and im a size 26 in MEX ) even made her laugh abit monkeying around to make myself understand. :)

Mexicans has a wonderful culture is worth discovering.

I did the crystal bottom boat ride we dont see anything abit of fish here an there but i thought we would see more but the ride was nice and a cooler breeze then at shore.

It has been my 15th time to Acapulco and this time I went to sprend the ashes of my dad I will return to this wonderful City but NEVER to the Torres Gemelas I learnt that la Caleta was the way to go for me very family oriented.

I thought I've seen it all from bad to worse... It is a place to sleep nothing more

“Survivable for a weekend, just”

Las Torres Gemelas Suite/Beach Resort

First the positives - the pool area is kept clean, but is quite small for the number of people.
- it is centrally located

Now the negatives- it took three attempts to get a room, the first one did not lock properly, the second was in the parking. Finally took the third. The rooms are a reasonable size but that is the only positive. The furnishings are very tatty, the kitchenette is disgusting. The shower gave hot water but the cold water didn't reach the showerhead so had seconds to get as shower as it warmed up.

The reception staff were generally unhelpful.

So all in all never again

“Loved it”

I just got back from Las Torres Gemelas on Thursday Jan 11th,2007 and i had to say i was definitley discouraged from reading reviews but i have to say all my fears and doubts were gone when i got there....the view and everything is amazing, the people there are sooo nice they always said good morning, goodnight or asked us how we were, the maids cleaned our room and gave us fresh towels everyday. I went there with my boyrfriend and we didnt expect much but I will definitley go back, if you go there picky and negative you will not have a good time. The food isn't too bad you can rotate between buffet and the snack bar down by the pool they make really great drinks as well. And there are alot of restaurants on the strip, the beach is nice can be wavy at times but it was nice when we were there. I also have to say the weather is just gorgeous my boyfriend and I met an older couple there and they own a condo up in the hotel, they said they have been going there for 16years and in those 16 years its only rained 3 or 4 times. So if you want a spot where the weather is a guarantee, Acapulco is it.

“Okay for Cheap”

Las Torres Gemelas Suite/Beach Resort

3 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada

My wife and I just returned from Acapulco last night. Torres Gemelas is an interesting place. I'll start with our arrival and room. We paid 527 each plus tax for this vacation including flight and the all inclusive meal option, so we weren't expecting alot.

Upon first arriving (skyservice bumped us from our orginal flight and put us on a 630am flight. they told us the flight was changed, when we got to the airport at 330am we found out we were bumped from the original... thanks alot skyservice) we got to the hotel fine, its a nice, scenic drive to the hotel from the airport. we were earlier than planned, but the sunquest rep told us our rooms would be ready asap. My wife and I were at the checkout desk first off our bus, and at 12:45 we were told our room would be ready in about 15 min (front desk staff is largely clueless here). We argued for a while and finally got our All inclusive bracelets and went and had a drink. The view from the lobby is fantastic, and the AI beer is bottled corona which was a nice surprise.

We then went for lunch at the buffet, then went back to the front desk to get our room. The genius at the front desk told us "oh you can't check in until 3pm". When I told him he said 15 min a half hour a go, he fumbled around and i told him we want the key even if the room isn't clean. he had to check with someone, nobody can seem to make a decision, then agreed. Funny enough when we got to our room it had been serviced, but it didn't help much. there were cigarette burns on the sheets, stains as well, the fridge was old and covered in rust, the patio door wouldn't lock, i was afraid to take off my shoes (i'm not a picky traveller in general). We changed into bathing suits, and went back to the front desk. One of the ladies from guest services was at the desk, they seem to be the only ones who can get anything done. Laura from guest services listened to my plea, and agreed to change our room. The moved us from the south tower to the north tower, I would STRONGLY recommend demanding a room in the north tower, the rooms there have been renovated and are much better than the south tower.

When we got to our new room, 2308 north, we were pleasantry surprised. We had an amazing ocean view, clean sheets, much newer decor, and a new fridge. Our patio door didn't lock, I don't think any of them did, but a much nicer room. From our balcony we could see the pool area, the beach, and we could see many eagle rays swimming in the little lagoon in front of our hotel. Much better experience. In general, North tower is much better, and the rooms are in a V such that rooms ending in 06 and 07 are right at the front. the 08 we had was one back from the front, as would have been the 05 across from us. 09 and 04 would have been one back etc. If you can get an 06 or 07 (they were doubled up to make one big room on our floor) they seem to be much nicer units.

The elevators are pretty good, never had to wait more than a couple minutes even when it was very busy.

Now the food.

The buffet restaurant is typical of most AI buffets we've eaten at. On the good side, niether of us felt sick after eating there. On the negative, not much variety and the same things day after day. No real surprises here. The servers are all nice and the omelet's to order station is nice.

The poolside bar/restaurant is nice. You can get sandwiches, chicken fingers, burgers and the like made to order by the pool. Its a little slow, but with the food free it was all in all pretty good. The grilled sandwiches are very nice.

Jesus at the pool bar and Lorenzo at the lobby bar were both fantastic, please tip them well, they deserve it.

Okay now the pool/beach.

Ignorant people try to monopolize the chairs all day. Some morons would leave towels on the loungers at 7am and not show up until noon or later. Security would occasionally remove these, but not often. Made it very tough to try to get loungers. Get yours early and go eat after, it gets very crowded and there are not enough. The pool was very full of kids, and it was very warm.

The beach area is largely as described here. There is not really any beach, and the loungers on the beach are not the hotels so you have to pay if you want them. They are crammed up against the wall as the water comes most of the way up the beach leaving 15 or 20 feet of sand high up that you can sit on. The water is lovely, and its very fun to swim in the surf there. If I was with young children however, I would be very very cautious.

Okay now location.

The location of the hotel is great, excepting the condition of the beach. If you want 2 min in either direction from the hotel, the beach is much larger. The nice thing is, you can get loungers or chairs and shade from the beach clubs/restaurants on the beach and just pay for food. The couple places we stopped were excellent, great service, and bottled corona for 2 or 3 bucks a beer served right on the beach. The beach vendors are there, but they listen and are fair. We bought two straw cowboy hats for 20 bucks, nicely woven. The bags of nuts are a buck or two, all in all decent deals if you want anything like that.

The restaurants around the hotel are great, we ate out for most of our dinners and 50 bucks was about the most we spend for steak and seafood, including a couple drinks. Again, didn't get sick at all which is always a bonus in mexico.

Summary

All in all, this hotel is in need of a face lift. They could use more beach chairs, or at least someone to take the moron's towels off chairs after an hour or so. If people weren't so stupid this would be fine. The room we got was fine, but I would have been very unhappy if we'd been stuck in our original room, kinda of hit and miss. Crappy that they told us no rooms were ready when we checked in, when in fact our room was ready, as were others when they moved us.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel due to the uncertainty with the rooms. However, for 527 all inclusive, you could do much worse. We met a young couple who had paid more at romano beach and were very unhappy. I think most of the hotels along the beach are in the same state.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Happy vacationing.
