“Never Again, Big Dissapointment!”

Crowne Plaza Acapulco

I stayed here 20 yrs agao when this was a 5star hotel in pristine condition. In the 20 years the only thing it seems they have done was to repaint the hotel. Everything is old in it's original condition when it was built 25 yrs ago. Even the towels, all the towels are 25 years old. They are worn out and rough from being washed so many times and should be replaced. My room was on the 12 floor non-smoking with ocean view. I could here every door slam outside and my neignbors getting in all times during the night. No soundproofing here. I found the room not in A1 clean condition. The bath tubs enamel is all worn out and there were hairs from previous guests. The counters in the bedroom where sticky and not cleaned right. The TV must also be about 25yrs old as the picture quality is all pink, needs also replacing. The bedspread and sheets have small yellow spots or stains throughought and should be replaced as it seems they can not be properly cleaned. The room safe doesn't work, I asked for a tootbrush and comb & they never brought it.
The inside door lock was hard to secure and the front door screws were half coming unscrewed making you feel unsecure.
The balcony door also was difficult to lock at first. The ran out of towels on day 3 and by 5pm I had to call the front desk to complain about the towels before they finally gave me one to take a shower with.
The WIFI is not included and not available in the room but the lobby only for $$$.
I must of come during the wrong time as NO-ONE there spoke english and all the guests were Mexicans. Even though I insisted on a non-smokoing room, smoke still creeped into my private space.
My bags got lost on the plane and arrived at 2am. The bell boy called me to let me know my bags arrived. I told him i'll pick them up when I get up. 10 minutes later he is banging on my door at 2am. I was very pissed how stupid these people are.
The restaurant food is not cheap and the quality is average.
I could keep going on as this place is very dissapointing. I remmembered it as a beautiful 5star hotel many yrs ago. Now I wished I would have stayed somewhere else as this was depressing.
Don't stay here unless Crowne Totally remodels the place.
And then i'm still not sure. This is a real mexican experience you want to avoid.

“Loved This Property”

Crowne Plaza Acapulco

5 of 5 stars
Las Vegas, Nevada

This is a very nice property in Acapulco. It is well maintained and clean. I did not see any mold or have issues with the bed and was extremely clean and in good shape. The restrooms were clean and well maintained the ocean view was killer and it even withstood the earthquakes that passed through while I was visiting there. The pool area was also very nice and clean and well maintained. The only complaint I had was the $15.00 U.S. Dollars for the Breakfast Buffet, which was just not that great. I enjoyed my trip to the Crowne Plaza Acapulco and would stay there again.

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza from April 6 - 13 lets start from the begaining we landed in ACA at 7:45 pm got our luggage and made it through customs by 8:30 pm did not get to the hotel till 11:00 pm check in was quick but all the resturants were closed and after a long flight we were unable to get something to eat or drink even though we were AI. we had a jr suit on the 15th floor the room was nice and the view was good all rooms have a ocean view, but thier was no mini bar, fridge, or safes in the room as was stated. The pools were crowed but chairs and umprellas were easy to get, the beach was closed due to very high waves the surf was comming up to the resort and they put down sand bags to keep it out, they said that this kind of surf was unsual this time of year the streets flooded about 2 feet deep. THE FOOD was the worst that I have ever had at any resort and I have been to about 15 AI resorts in Mexico 2 nights the buffett for dinner did not even open and the AI program was only good from 11am to 11 pm and had lots of sur charges. To get a drink you still had to stand in a line to get a ticket and sign for it than take your ticket to the bar to get your drink it was a pain and not all drinks were inclulded but the main reason we picked this hotel was that it had a swin-up bar well it did but they where not serving anyone in the pool you had to get out and get a ticket., and everyone exepceted a TIP everyone had their hand out, I know these people don't make a lot of money and we tip anyway but this was uncalled for. We did the city tour it was ok the cliff divers are a must see. We spoke with others on the return trip home they and very good things to say about the HAYT , and the RITZ. To top off our vacation on friday the 13th about 1am we have a earthquake that was a 6.5 about 40 miles north of Acapulco then a after shock about 4am that was a 6.3 that was pretty scary up on the 15th floor rocking like a boat in rough water, thank god we were going home. To sum things up if you have been to LA well thats what ACAPULCO is like with out the HOLLYWOOD sign. Lots of traffic and over priced restruants and no one speaks english. If I was to go back I WOULD NOT STAY at the crowne plaza. But as someone else remarked been their, done that, won't do that again!! Bob and the Clevland gang, and Kim Carrie and Katie the photos are on their way see ya in PLAYA DEL CARMEN (thats the place to go)

“Wouldn't Go Back”

Crowne Plaza Acapulco

We were there at the tale end of spring break 3/28 to 4/04. Probably an ok place if you are a spring breaker but there are far better places to stay for a family. The lobby and pool area were nice but the rooms are not the best. They were clean and we had good maid service (we always left a tip) but a little run down. Our toilet had to be fixed daily so it would flush. Breakfast buffet was a little expensive for our taste ($15.00) but the food was alright. You could get burgers and similar food around the pool area. The prices were ok and the food wasn't bad. We did not do the all inclcusive and never ate in the other hotel restaurants. I heard a lot of complaining about the all inclusive the entire time we were there. Stand in line to get a drink and you had to sign a slip before you could get the drink. Looked like a hassel. We rarely ordered drinks while pool side because of the prices ($6.00 for a very small margarita and $4.00 for a beer) but the servcie wasn't bad if you ordered from one of the waiters. Never any drink specials which we have always found at other Mexican resorts.

We ate at all the tourist type restaurants in town and found the food to be pretty good (Senor Frogs, Carlos and Charlie's, Hard Rock Cafe, etc). We found the food at a "Pirate" place to be excellent. It was called Barbaroja and was on the main drag. A little expensive but very large portions. The one thing I found to be disapointing was the lack of "fun" the staff at these restaurants tried to have with you. We simply ate and left. Similar restaurants in other Mexican tourist spots have went out of there way to show you a good time. This was why I wanted to eat at these restaurants but found them to be like any other restaurant in the states.

Not a lot of tourist type stuff to do. The sunset cruise was alright for the price becuase it was all you could drink. Bad time of year for fishing but we gave it a good run with our guide Narsisos. He works at the hotel and has a stand near the pool. He will negotiate a price and go above and beyond to try get you into fish.

We had a good time but I wouldn't go back to Acapulco. If I did, I would definately try a different hotel.
