“About as good as it gets”

Inn at Mazatlan

4 of 5 stars
Texas, USA

Three weeks at this property and not any complaint other than it was too short. The staff is absolutely exceptional making you feel like they actually want to serve you and really do care.
Food is average (breakfast buffe is especially nice) albeit a little on the pricey side for Mexico, especially the drinks. Great location convenient to restaurants, transportation, grocery ...you name it.
The beach is fine and one of the two pools is very spacious with a huge waterfall cascading from a rock formation.
Most units have kitchens and you can actually buy fresh shrimp from a guy at the beach entrance each morning and boil or cook it the same day it was caught. Wow!!

“a mixed bag”

Inn at Mazatlan

the new tower is beautiful, and up-to-date, but the lower floors
have a LOT of street noise. people put towels on the pool
chairs, and don't show up until noon, so there are not a lot
of chairs available. staff is very friendly, and helpful; some little
things go wrong (refrig didn't work one day, they replaced it;
no coffee maker; they brought one; a/c blew hot air; they
fixed it). near one patio room, where we stayed another week,
near the pool, at about 6 am, they start bringing (lots of) carts with stuff (food, towels?), and the plastic wheels sound like a
train coming through. for the money it costs, they need to
clean up the loose ends.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — beautiful views, friendly and helpful staff, easy to get around
    • Disliked — lots of loose ends; a wide variation in quality from room to room

“Good Family Hotel - Resort / Inn at Mazatlan”

Update to my 2006 review of the Inn at Mazatlan. Last year I called the old girl shabby, but this year showed the old girl had some work done. We just returned from our week in December and to our delight, the shabby Inca building, which needed renovating is much nicer now. The kitchens have been renovated since we were there in 2006 and what an improvement. The staff are still great, the service very good and the poolside atmosphere is wonderful. This hotel definately a sure bet. Viva Mexico!

“a very nice stay”

Inn at Mazatlan

We stayed a week at The Inn. We found the rooms to be nice, and our maid service was great (blankets and sheets smelled freshly laundered every day) The hotel has a good activities department and a wonderfull pool. **Note on the pool: people do put their personals out in the morning and return to other activities leaving very few selections to sit in*** The restarurant was good but we only ate there once. This hotel has no night dancing or good bar type sceen, you will have to go elsewhere for that. The beach is great with lots of activities and the hotel is in a good area. The staff was very helpful, everyone speaks english, and they have all the amenities you need including concierge, cab service and drink service at the pool is good. I would stay here again, especially since these rooms have refrigerators.

“We Loved The Inn!”

Inn at Mazatlan

Sep 7, 2006
16/16 found this review helpful

My husband, 3 year old daughter and I stayed here for a week. After reading some of the other reviews I was kind of scared of what we would encounter. We had a week stay through RCI but required an additional nights stay. The first night we were in an ocean view room in the older section and have NO complaints what so ever. The staff was awesome, the room was wonderful! From what I saw with people ahead of me in line checking in, don't be rude to the staff and they won't be short with you. I watched several people go ahead of me and start making demands only to wait and wait and get more and more angry. I went up and smiled said please and thank you and got what we needed with quickness and smiles! After the first night we were moved over to the new tower and presented a gorgeous room with a bedroom, two bathrooms and a nice kitchenette which was great because I was able to cook for my picky daughter :) Anyway, long story short I LOVED the Inn and would return in a heartbeat. Our only disappointment with the Inn was that we had to go home!
