“Great Beach Location”

Ambiance Villas

Apr 30, 2008

The Ambiance is a very beautiful hotel. The beach is the best that I saw along the strip, no rocks, the sand is pretty and even, not a great deal of seaweed. Compared to the other hotels this was the best beach. The rooms were great!!! If you come there is no need to do the all inclusive because you have a great stainless steel kitchen in the room with everything you could possibly need minus the food. Their is also a washer and dryer. We had a three bedroom villa that had three bathrooms and two balconies and a living room and dinning room. There is plenty of space. The rooms are nicely decorated and everything was up to date.
We did the all inclusive, so we had the all you can eat buffet for breakfast, which was good and had American food and fruit. The lunch and dinner were okay, they had a pretty American menu, although I was looking for more Mexican dishes. Since we had the all inclusive, the drinks were good, some times a little watered down, but you can have as many as you want, so it doesn't matter. The Coronas were great.
The hotel has a nice pool, mainly for kids. But again the beach is nice and very relaxing, lounge chairs with cushions are provided.
Overall, great hotel, had a little problem with the front desk upon check-in, they were not very nice, but everything else was great. I would stay here again. The location is also great, especially since the bus runs constantly.

“Love the Beach”

We wanted to try something different for our 3rd trip to Cancun and decided to do a non all inclusive. I had read a trip report of a person that stayed at the Ambiance with her husband and I just loved her pictures. The beach was voted #1 in Cancun by the Discovery Channel. The resort itself isn't fancy but it was clean and had everything we needed. They gave us a nice room overlooking the pool and beach beyond the pool. It is within walking distance to a lot of nice places to eat and Plaza Caracol. We could get on the bus right outside the resort and it was only a short ride to Puerto Juarez if you like to go to Isla Mujeres for a day. They kept the pool nice and clean and we usually ended up there after a day on the beach. Breakfast was included for us and the selection was average. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, juices and the egg buffet. You could select any kind of egg or omlet you wanted and the chef made it for you right there.

We would definitely go back if we get the chance. The prices for the rooms are great and the suites are the largest in Cancun. They advertise as "the comfort of home and the luxury of a resort."

We ate a couple of times there and what we got was good but go out and try the places around the area. Mocomba's is near and I recommend it. Try their black spaghetti. It's delicious.

We met a lot of nice people that had stayed there for over a month. For those prices you can stay longer than a week. We want to go for 2 weeks the next time.

“BEST BEACH IN CANCUN”

Ambiance Villas

5 of 5 stars
South Dakota

This is the 10th year of staying at Ambiance Villas - Kin Ha for the whole winter and the 15th year in a row we have been a guest there. Obviously we like it a great deal and as stated above, we have the best beach in all of Cancun.
We arrived the end of January and left of the 2nd of April and we have reservations for next year already.
We submit a review each year and update it and our experiences have always been favorable and we encourage people who have not stayed here before to try it and we are sure that they will like it as much as we do..
This is not a 5 star hotel with hundreds of people running around and no need to fight for chairs or recliners as they have many and most people will find that the suites are larger than most hotel rooms and we recommend ones with full kitchens for those people that are going to stay awile.
Improvements over last year is new chairs, recliners and tables around the pool and many new recliners on the beach. Even when the hotel was full, we didnt have a problem finding one.
The pool is nice and has a section for small children and a nice play area for children as well.
The restaurant has a new manager since last fall and new chef and the food is the best we have seen in 5 or more years. The shrimp, both coconut and tequila are awesome as are the fajitas and tacos. Juan Carlos is as helpfull as always and so are the rest of the staff. Fidel at the bar still serves the best margaritas
and the beer is always cold.
The rooms are always kept clean each and every day and always fresh towels and washclothes. We usually tip the maid everyother day about 50 pesos or about 2 1/2 dollars a day as they are worth it. If you need something just pick up the phone and ask for the front desk and you will get it.
Free towels for the beach are available near the pool and you sign for them and we just exchange them each day so you dont have to do paperwork each day.
We are right on the bus route and just go out and to go downtown you take a bus to the right on the hotel side or to the clubs and lots of the restaurants you go across the street and take the bus to the left of the hotel.
One of the biggest assets the hotel has is Javier who has a desk near the front desk. If you want a tour or restaurant reservations, you should have Javier make them for you as he can give you directions and recommend some great places to eat and have either free drink tickets or discount coupons and he is very fluent in English.
The front desk has some very nice people working there including Senor Rafael Rodriquez and Conce and others that speak excellent English among other languages and they are taking classes in French.
The little baguette shop across the street Ty-Coz is still the best buy for lunch and the chicken is great and the Restaurant on the lagoon La Palapa Belga just 2 blocks from the baquette shop is one of the best places to eat for the money but make sure you have reservations as the tables go fast.
Still some of the best places are the Big Argintine Steak House in the Forum just 7 or 8 blocks from us and the sister restaurant for seafood , Puerto Madero, further down the strip.
We met a number of new couples this year and saw many others from years past that make our stay really enjoyable and we look forward to seeing most of those same people again next year.
We will be staying 11 weeks next year as we came back to snow this year and just don't like it so we decided just to stay longer and enjoy the sun and sand.

Our e-mail address is blgloss@nvc.net and if anyone wants to email us about good restaurants and what to do and how to get there or any questions about the beach or anything at all - they are welcome to ask and we will answer to the best of our ability.

“Exactly what I was hoping for”

Ambiance Villas

Ambiance Villas was exactly what I wanted. What I didn't want was a 15,000 room megalopolis where I would have to take an elevator to get anywhere. I also didn't want to feel enclosed, nor did I want to eat every meal at my hotel. The beauty, subtle profile, lush gardening and patio scapes, peace and tranquility and luxury feel where excellent. The beach is the best in the hotel zone. The staff and points of service are what you expect at a 5 star. The breakfast selections are way better than I expected and the lunch and dinner menu and quality of food are four star. Yummy! Everything was perfect. Well, I can't understand why they wouldn't set 'to go' cups out with the coffee urn so that early risers could have coffee at their convenience instead of waiting until 7:00. That became an absurd power play with the staff where they could have been accommodating at no inconvenience to themselves. Other than that, it was perfect, and I would choose them again.

“LOVED Ambiance Villas”

March 29-April 5, 2008 - I can't say anything bad about this hotel. Great staff-rooms-maid service-beach-breakfast-dining on the beach-the view-everything was great. We had a two bedroom suite on the second floor with large rooms. The grounds were spotless - not even a blade of grass on the walks. I saw only one small ant on the patio - no other bugs anywhere- inside or outside - even on the beach after dark. Five minute walk to a shopping malls, with a Bank on the way. There 's a small convent store about two blocks down the street to the right as you exit the hotel. The store is on the left side of the street so you must cross - be careful - the drivers in Mexico are wild. If you like the "old" style Mexican look this hotel is great. However if you're into the new high-rise style hotel the Ambiance Villas is not for you. Very family oriented. The Gift shop is pricey but they all are anywhere.

We took the tour to Chichen Itza. Book it online with Cancun Fun Tours. This was a wonderful enjoyable day. The tour guide was great. The guide makes the tour. Well worth the price. My wife and her 14 year old son and 17 year old daughter swam with the Dolphins and Manatee on the ISLA MUJERES and loved it - booked on-line with Dolphin Discovery. Pricey !!! We all four did a one hour snorkel while waiting for the Dolphin swim. For the $20 each additional it was okay; but I wouldn't go with Dolphin Discovery just to snorkel - wasn't that great. We chartered Cancun Kianah's Sport Fishing for deep sea fishing. These people are the BEST. Call them or go to the web-site. My step-daughter and I got sea sick so we were only out for about four hours with an hour and a half of fishing. The seas only run 3 to 5 foot so it was not a rough day. I don't know why I got sick because I've been in 10-12 foot sea and didn't get sick. In that short time My wife and step-son landed a total of 10 fish with my step-son boating an 80 pound Sail Fish. I wonder how many fish we would have caught if we had stayed out for our full 8 hour charter. We also did the para-sailing with Aqua World. My wife loved it, the rest of us didn't. Pricey for what it was. Cancun is a wonderful place - take money - As one vender said to me, "Come in mister. I'll rip you off for less". The people are friendly in the Hotel Zone - Don't know about Down Town - didn't go there. A 20 oz Pepsi ranges from 10 peso's at a drug store to 35 at the airport.

The trip was well worth every penny. Would love to do it all again tomorrow.
