This is a very nice hotel right on the beach. Colibri is only one street over from 5th street. It is small and peaceful. The staff is very responsive.

My wife, young son, and i spent 10 nights at the Colibri hotel in January and loved it. The location can not be surpassed in all of Playa. The staff and the owners treated us like family.The room was spotless,the bed comfortable, and the view breathtaking. I have been to Playa 6 times in 4 years and will stay at the Colibri in January 2005 because the price, location,and attentive staff can not be beat.

We have stayed in low budget hotels before, but this was just gross. We don't even know where to begin. The two positive things about this hotel was the friendly staff and the location. The room was smelly and damp. There is no decor. The shower leaked (but had good pressure...three good things). The sheets were gross and smelly and even worse....the sheets had a BLOOD STAIN and were NEVER CHANGED!!! Over all the place had an eerie dirty feeling. The hotel made me want to leave beautiful Playa del Carmen. Even my rugged boyfriend who camped in Alaska for two months agrees! I love a bargain, but sometimes the saved cash just isn't worth it.

My husband and I went to Playa del Carmen in May 2003 and stayed at Hotel Colibri which was recommended by friends who visit year after year. It was perfect!!! It's nothing fancy but is new and clean and is in the best part of town...directly on the beach, right in the middle of the restaurants and shops. There is a palapa bar right outside of the hotel on the beach with swing chairs..it is sooo relaxing and fun.
We were so disappointed when we spent the second half of our trip at a touristy resort outside of Cozumel. We wanted to plan another trip to the Carribean this year but can't resist going back to Playa and staying at Hotel Colibri. The price is right and the environment and people are wonderful.
