As first time visitors to Mexico, my boyfriend and I really had no idea what to expect from hotels in the area of Tulum.

After reading what felt like thousands of reviews, I decided Posanda Luna Del Sur sounded like the place for us to stay for 2 nights, before heading to a wedding in Cancun. Obviously, the price was a big draw, but also all the great stories about Janet!

I'm so pleased to feedback that we really couldn't have been any well looked after. My boyfriend and I are very much used to our creature comforts and had just come from the luxury of the Hyatt Regency in Cancun, but after staying a the Posanda we are now complete converts to the more cosy B&B!

Janet was an absolute angel, who made sure we knew exactly where to go and where to eat. I don't think we spent more than £2.50 per night!! The breakfasts were excellent, with Janet and Jack holding court over a bowl of fresh fruit and bread.

We had rented a car, so we drove to the beach in the day, which took about 10 mins. As this hotel isn't on the beach it means that at night it's really peaceful.

This really is a gem to find...and make sure you look out for your swan shaped towels!!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Tulum, and we absolutely loved our stay!!! We arrived fairly late at night (due to extremely long lines at customs), yet Janet welcomed us in and gave us a run down of the town- which places to eat at, which ones not to, good attractions, etc. Our room was extremely quiet (no outside noises), and we thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of the room. At first I was apprehensive about our honeymoon stay, because it was so hot when we arrived in Tulum. However, our room had a very nice working air conditioner that we actually had to turn off, because we were too cold! Imagine that, 100 degree weather and we were too cold! The bathroom was kept very clean, and the shower was huge- a plus for honeymooners. The only "shock" coming from the U.S. was that we had to put our toilet paper in a waste basket instead of in the toilet (because the septic system cannot handle it). However, our house-keeper, Jesus, changed the waste basket, and cleaned the entire room every single day... one of the things that my husband and I have often said is, "We miss the smell of our room in Tulum." It was such a clean, refreshing smell... you have to go there to understand what we're talking about.

So, we had a great time exploring Tulum....... and then...... Hurricane Dean came, four days before we were supposed to leave... As the hurricane came closer, I got more and more scared, but Janet and Jack were amazing!!! They invited my husband and I up to their room, and made calls to Mexico's airlines to see if there were any plane tickets out of the Yucatan. I have never experienced such hospitality as I did from Janet and Jack. They were very calm and reassuring about the hurricane, and they gave us very valuable advice about driving to Merida, instead of Cancun, to get on a plane (because they knew that Cancun would be closing down their airport the second that the winds started picking up from the hurricane). Sure enough, Cancun's airport closed a day and half before the hurricane even hit, and we safely got out of Merida and were back in the States before Dean showed his ugly head.

So, what we really want to say is this: Posada Luna del Sur was what made our honeymoon amazing! Yes, Tulum itself was a charming little town, but it was our little hotel stay that sticks in our mind everytime we think back on our honeymoon.

Take our advice: the Posada Luna del Sur will make your vacation 100 percent better... trust us.

I will basically be echoing what everyone else has said about Posado Luna del Sur...... it was fantastic! The room was extremely clean, the garden was beautiful and Janet and Jack were wonderful. We booked at this hotel strictly from all the great reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed! We hope to go back in the future.

After our stay at Posada Luna del Sur, we stayed on the beach for a few days where unfortunately the customer service was horrible and we were wishing we were back with Janet and Jack!

What makes a little 12 room hotel in the rustic town of Tulum stand out from the rest? It is positively because of the passion with which Posada Luna del Sur is run. No detail is neglected, no corner is left unscrubbed, and no jar of Nutella ever runs dry. Janet and Jack make their place a haven: a glorious retreat from the more rustic life which surrounds it's premises. One example of their thoughtfulness is a note we received which was twist-tied to our gate when we arrived home one evening: "Dear Darryl and Corina, There appears to be a mexican fiesta around the corner. We would be happy to provide you with some earplugs for your comfort. Please call us. Sincerely, Janet and Jack" Who does this??? I was amazed at the outstanding care that went into our every interaction. Janet and Jack took time out of their busy mornings to help us plan our days and led us to amazng places around Tulum. Our trip would not have been the same without them. Their personal touch is what made a fantastic getaway even more memorable. We are already looking forward to staying with them next year.
