“Beautiful Resort!”

Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa

We stayed at the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar for 5 nights and were impressed by it the moment we saw it. Our room was a decent size with a spacious balcony. The decor is very charming Spanish style with lots of detail around the property and beautiful fountains.
This is one of the few properties that actually have their own private beach. We mostly stayed at the infinity pool but would have to get there very early to reserve some chairs since it gets very crowded.
We didn't eat at too many of the hotel's restaurants but the last night we ate at Pityhaya's. The views were beautiful and the food was just average. But would go back there for a cocktail and an appetizer just to enjoy the spectacular view.
I enjoyed staying in the Corridor area since it was a quieter area and we rented a car so driving wasn't a problem going downtown.
I would definitely stay here again and am looking forward to my next trip to Cabo! :)

“Great times at my buddy's wedding...”

A quick trip down from LA...I was in Friday, attended a wedding there on Saturday, and was out Sunday...but had a great time. Rooms are wonderful. Food is great. Pool experience was memorable, great swim up bars. One pool is more fun, the other more low-key. Nice to have the option there. And I really enjoyed attending my buddy's wedding there at the hotel. If you are getting married in Cabo, this is the place...

“We'll be back!”

Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa

This was our first visit to Cabo- we booked the Sheraton based on info from TripAdvisor. We were so pleased with the property.
We obtained a great nightly rate that included the buffet breakfast- it is fab! We rented a car- really enjoyed having wheels.
The hotel made great recommendations for dinner and activities.
The surf and beach is beautiful- a couple of days calm enough for swimming- but, too cold for us- we are from Florida- the Gulf is alot warmer. There are several swimmable beaches- you would need a car to go these easily. We did end up doing the time share presentation for a dinner certificate- it lasted 75 minutes as promised- we let the guy know up front that we had a appt for an activity. We went because we were interested in hearing the deal- the property is very nice. Fishing was great, golf was amaziing, the ATV trip was good as well.
We did pick up water and Diet Colas from Walmart- they also have Sams and Cosco. That saved money- the 24 bottle case of water cost us very little and it was 3-4 dollars per bottle everywhere else. The hotel does have ice that is made from purified water- that was a perk! The hotel does have several computers to the right of the lobby and have internet access - we were told 30 minutes free- that worked. You can watch whales ( in season ) from Tomatoes - location of the breakfast buffet and from the pool area- beautiful. Don't miss the sunset at the
Sunset Mona Lisa Restauant/Bar- a short drive from the Sheraton. They do have vendors on the beach and have a vendor area near on of the pools- they do not approach you at the ppools and at the beach a simple "No thank you" works!
The only place we felt attacked by time share folks was at the airport- we thought we was giving us directions to the rental car aagency! We will visit Cabo again soon!

“Beautiful Resort with a few challanges”

Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa

4 of 5 stars
Long Island, NY

First let me start with airport. After you go through customs and get you baggage you exit the terminal. Once you go though the door you cannot go back. You have to avoid literally 5-10 different people asking you for a shuttle ride. They will give you a shuttle ride after they take you to a hotel or other location to have you view a time share presentation. They will offer you discount activity tours. If you walk out of the the terminal, bypass the salesmen, go to the right and you will be at an actual shuttle company if you dont have arrainged transportation. You can take a shuttle to your hotel from their with no gimicks.

We arrive at our hotel and the property is really nice. We check in an a man sat us down and gave us a map of the property with restaurants and bars. He was very nice. He asked us if we would like a free breakfast and view a 75 minute presentation. we had said no. Two days later we decided to view the timeshare presentation for the breakfast and also we would get up to 50% tour packages during our stay. So we are the presentation that was supposed to be 75 minutes. It ended up taking 3 hours! We were really annoyed b/c we were lied to. They take you on a tour of the property and about 6 different availible timeshare rental rooms. The first salesman we spoke to, who apparently was very good at what he did, asked us if it were affordible would we be interested? we said no. so we eat breakfast and were passed off to another person to try to sell us. He was very nice and we were asking him all about the town and he told us to buy souvenier in the town about 2 blocks off the beathen path.We saved a lot of $ with that. Back to the salesmen. We were very persistent at saying no. so we walk to property for about 45 mins. We sit back at another table and someone else comes in now and still kept trying to sell us. Finally we were finished. we ended up taking the atv tour at half price. which saved us like $80. So if you are a person that cannot say no and you really are not interesed in purchasing a timeshare. Beware!

The Beach was very nice. Groomed every morning at 7am. We woke up early on 2 mornings to watch the sunrise. It was really beautiful.

We only had a few minor issues there. The phone in the room didnt work the 1st day. The Jacuzzi had very little pressure, maintenace did come but they couldnt fix it.

The service was very good. Everyone was very polite and uderstood English. We really enjoyed the restaurants. Cabo only has 3 5-star restaurants and the Sheraton Hacienda has 2 of them. De Cortes and Pitayas. Very delicios. Whats great is that you can eat outdoors practically on the beach and listen to the waves and feel the nice breeze.

Downtown Cabo is about a 10 min taxi ride. The hotel offers a shuttle for $10 round trip every 90 mins the last one picks up at the marina/mall at 6pm. It was just annoying b/c when we wanted to go downtown at night it costed $20 each way up to 4 people. It added up!

We liked Cabo Wabo, but our favorite place was El Squid Roe. That place was crazy! The town does not pick up until after 9pm. all the bars are dead until then except during happy hour.

We did the Migrino ATV tour. it was a lot of fun, my wife and i rented a double atv. The only thing that annoyed us was that you had to buy insurance on the atv's. It was only about $12, but it would have been nice to know in advance so you dont find out until you are already there.

We went whale watching on a catamaran boat. Unfortunatly we only saw 3 different whales. The food they served was pretty bad. at the end of the tour they walk around with tip cups. so be prepared. You will probably see more whales just sitting on the beach at the resort than the catamaran. I would recomend it unless you want to see more of the pacific side since thats where most of the whales are.

The best tour we did was we went to the marina and had someone take us in a glass bottom boat tour. We viewed Los Archos. Really Awesome! They drop you off at Lovers Beach where you can swim. you tell them what time to pick you up.

We would go back to Cabo, but next time we will stay closer to downtown.

“Loved it - great time - food pricey/limited”

Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa

4 of 5 stars
rockville, md
Apr 14, 2008

We stayed here for 1 week during Spring Break of 08-09. We were a family from MD and we drove to EWR for the the flight. The hotel was very nice, but we found the food options to be limiting and expensive. They have an ultra-expensive boutique place a short walk away and we ate their once. Short of a $10 burger by the pool bar, there is really nothing else reasonable. If you have kids and/or want to eat a lot, BOOK AN ALL INCLUSIVE! Last time, we stayed at the Riu in Cabo which was a much nicer hotel and was an inclusive. Cabo food/amenities are just at a huge premium over other vacation resorts.

The rooms were nice/staff were fine!

Be aware, internet is rare and expensive, there is no free access here. I suggest you think twice if access to the net is important to you because you will be killed on the cost.

The waves on the beach outside are huge and unsafe. If you have small kids, you must watch them vigilantly. The Mexican lifeguards were very incompetent and just sat and drank liquor on the beach and laughed/talked while kids were struggling in the waves and getting hammered by the surf. I saw many 10ft+ monsters during my stay. Head to Chileno bay nearby if you want a calm kid friendly beach. Hotel staff can give directions.
