On the plus side:

(1) Location is within walking distance (10-20 minutes) of such major downtown sites and areas such as Robson Square and Canada Place
(2) Price is reasonable for a clean, reasonably comfortable mid-range hotel in a major city
(3) Staff were extraordinarily friendly and seemed genuinely glad to see you...

On the negative side:

(1) I found significant traffic noise, even though I was on the sixth (executive) floor.
(2) It seemed to take ages to get hot water for the bath.
(3) Front desk staff sometimes gave information which wasn't complete, or inaccurate. For instance, it would have been helpful for them to tell me that the theatre ticket I had for one evening meant my venturing into a questionable area of the city after dark. Estimates of walking times to various locations was more than once, considerably off (i.e. significantly underestimated) - and I walk at a reasonably brisk pace.
(4) I found the pool very small, and it's located in a rather isolated part of the hotel.

We spent three nights at the Holiday Inn Downtown Vancouver at the beginning of our month trip through BC. We had terrible jet lag after 2-day flight from Australia so we would have been happy with anything for the first night. However, we were pleasantly suprised by the standard. We found the desk clerks to be very friendly and helpful as well as their restaurant staff.

The rooms themselves were dated and could do with a revamp but we generally they were very comfortable and couldn't complain for the cost of the room.

The location was terrific and we managed to get to all the major attractions either by walking or public transport.

I have stayed at several hotels in Vancouver and thought this city just had poor customer service. I work in the hotel industry in the interior of the province & thought we were just friendlier & more helpful up north, until I stayed here. Excellent service, great staff. Rooms were comfort & clean, great location. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying downtown.

Rooms were clean and spacious. Food was great. Staff were really nice and helpful, particularly the bar, restaurant and laundry staff.

We stayed for eight nights and built a rapport with many of the staff.

In addition to the quality of the hotel and the staff it is also in a great central location.

I will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to anyone.
