“Memorable Stay”

Queen Victoria Hotel and Suites

My friend and I stayed at the Queen Victoria Hotel in mid April for 5 nights. We booked our stay directly with the hotel. The front desk staff gave us a confirmation number and we were charged exactly what we were quoted. Everyone we came in contact with at the Queen Victoria were most pleasant and very helpful.

Our room overlooked a park and the Empress Hotel. The room was clean and modern. My friends laptop computer came in very handy to connect us to such sites as Victoria Regional Transit, the Buchart Gardens and the Belfry Theatre.

We made use of the small gym every morning. It was extremely clean and all the equipment worked. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub each day after sightseeing.

On our final morning we had the Sunday Brunch at Samuel's which set us up for our final day of walking about in Beacon Hill Park. Some other nearby restaurants we enjoyed were The Old Spaghetti Factory, Irish Times Pub and Sam's Deli.

The only bothersome thing was that we were in a room with a poorly sound proofed connecting door to the next room, and on occasion we could hear our neighbours talking.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.

“What a Surprize!!”

What a surprize it was to stay at the Queen Victoria! I must admit reading some of the reviews had me a tad concerned. They were all cast aside with the friendly, and helpful reception at the front desk. Upon my arrival, I was informed my room would not be available, due to a staff shortage, for an hour. Well no worries there as the hotel is next to the Royal British Columbia Museum, and what better place to kill off an hour ( or more ). The hotel held my bags in storage whilest I was out and about. My room ( with a balcony ), and hotel, were extremely clean, the shower had power to spare, and the bed was most comfortable. The staff were always cheerful, helpful and most informitive. The hotel resturant "Samuels" is comparable to any other in Victoria. The location is an extremely easy walk to all Major Attractions, Inner Harbour, Downtown, Chinatown and even the Parliment Buldings. I will definately stay at the Queen Victoria on all my future visits to Victoria! I strongly urge you to experience this wonderful hotel also!!!

“Sleepless in the Queen Victoria”

Queen Victoria Hotel and Suites

1 of 5 stars
Vancouver Island, BC

I booked a one night's stay one month in advance for myself and one child through Expedia. I requested a quiet room, away from ice machines and the elevator, if at all possible. What we ended up with was being placed on a floor filled with rowdy, partying kids in town for a tournament who ran around the halls at all hours making it impossible to sleep. Two pleading calls down to the front desk did nothing to stop the noise. When I brought the issue up at check-out the next morning, I was told that they knew about the situation and had other complaints, but it was "out of control'. They added that the chaperones were just as out of control as the kids.

Despite my indication that my young daughter and I had had no sleep, there was no attempt made to make things right with us - no credit, no vouchers - nothing. Since I had pre-paid a month earlier in full, there was no motivation to to give any type of credit.

What is completely baffling is why the Queen Victoria would want to leave such a bad impression - one that will be compounded through word of mouth and by passing on my experience to my employer that we list it as a place not to stay . A small gesture would have gone a long way to at least giving the impression that they were concerned about our experience. Instead, I left that hotel feeling extremely ripped off.

“never again!!”

Queen Victoria Hotel and Suites

Myself and two friends just spent a night at the Queen Victoria Hotel and Suites and I would never stay there again, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone. I will say that the one positive was that it was clean, aside from that it was very disappointing.
First the staff at the front desk was aloof and not very friendly, and that's okay I can get over that but the room that was given to us was over some doors on the first floor and all we heard for hours after we went to bed were people coming in and out and doors being slammed. I would just start to fall back to sleep and sure enough be woken up again by the noise downstairs. The faucet in the bathroom sink had no cold water only scorching hot water came out of the tap so you either brushed your teeth over the tub or you risked burning your mouth. Lastly but certainly not least when I got up in the morning and went in to the bathroom I turned on the fan and sat down to use the toilet and was showered with cold water coming out of the fan on the ceiling.(Maybe we should have used that water to brush our teeth!) Anyways I am not someone who has ever written in to a site before but I would not want to stay there again and I know from experience that there are many great places in Victoria to stay and this is NOT one of them!!

“Long live the Queen Victoria”

Queen Victoria Hotel and Suites

I absolutley loved this hotel. The rooms were beautiful and the cleanest I've ever been in. The front desk staff were proffesional but also very friendly. I asked for extra towels to be brought up to the room and immediatly they were sent. They charge for parking but I think it was only about $5. The pool is very nice and so is the restaurant. I will for sure stay here again because it has character and a family feel. As a frequent traveller to Victoria and an experienced hotel guest there I highly reccomend this place to everyone.
