“Nice hotel with plumbing and heating problems”

Parkcity

May 4, 2008

The hotel has many plus sides and a few minuses, the latter of which should be easy to remedy.

Let's start with the former, the good sides: very well located in Kensington in a nice quiet street; close to a tube station; close also to Kensington High St with good shopping and a nice park; well priced too (we got a double for £100); recently renovated, with good bathrooms and quality linen.

Now the minus: We changed rooms three times - and that for a one-night stay. Why? Because either the heating (provided through the AC) was rattling like an old plane or because two of the rooms seem to be unheatable. We are not fussy, but the room temperature was certainly not above the 15 degree mark.

Summing it up, the hotel could be excellent but needs some serious plumbing.

“Great Rooms, Service Needs help”

My standard room was quite large and clean. Nicer than usual bathroom for London. The room had a comfy, modern feel to it. Its also located in a very pretty, quiet neighborhood.

I arrived mid-week at 2:45pm and my room wasn't ready (check-in is at 3pm). I tried to go the hotel restauarant for dinner, only to find out its only open for breakfast. Unfortunately, their website promoted it open for all meals and having an onsite restaurant was a factor in my decision making process.

They had to bring me a room service menu since there wasn't one in my room. When my order arrived, they had forgotten my beverage -- so I had to sign 2 different receipts (they couldn't just have given me a free drink given their mistake?). No one came to take my tray away.

Overall though, I liked the hotel and would try it again.

“Would definitely return”

Parkcity

Apr 30, 2008

Spent 2 nights with my family there in March. We had 2 double rooms, both deluxe. They were very spacious and had good toiletries from Molton Brown. The flat screen tv had a good choice of channels, and there were magazines in the room including the latest National Geographic and Time Out. The concierge was very helpful recommending a nice restaurant in the area. Location is very handy with Earls Court tube station just a 5 minute walk. We had room service both mornings for breakfast and found it very good, particularly the banana pancakes. Our rooms looked onto the road which was very quiet except for an early morning delivery to somewhere up the road. All in all we had a lovely stay and would definitely return again.

“Fantastic hotel”

I couldn't really believe the hotel lived up to the reviews. It did. Fluffy towels, soft linen, fantastically helpful and attentive staff, superbly comfortable bed. You get the usual overpriced extras (e.g., for internet access, drinks at the bar) but given we paid less than 100 pounds for the night we know we got a great deal overall. Especially with the Moulton Brown products in the bathroom.

As other reviewers said, the back of the hotel does look out over the 24-hour Sainsbury parking lot, but (a) we didn't spend our time looking out the window, and (b) this meant we had access to reasonably priced snacks at all hours.

I'm budget-minded and never expected to get such quality for the price we paid. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“Great Hotel”

Parkcity

Apr 21, 2008

Just had a weekend in London and booked the Parkcity after reading the reviews. Very modern, clean freindly hotel in a great location. Rooms very nicely furnished, comfortable bed and good breakfast. Cant really ask much more from a city centre hotel.
