We were looking for a romantic, quiet place to stay for a special occasion. Unfortunately, Bloomfield house did not live up to those expectations.
Whilst the owners/managers were nice they fell well short of creating a boutique style environment or indeed a simple quiet retreat. (For those that only want to have stayed in an historic building then this is for you.)
We didn't mind the cats and dog in the accommodation however we did not expect the dog to be running around the kitchen whilst breakfast was being cooked.
The sunday evening that we had put aside to relax in our room was rather spoilt by a stereo being played by one of the family with pop/dance music (going from 7.30 to about 9.30pm) and children shouting down to their parents (the owners).
Another very small thing but one which adds up, is that breakfast was not laid out at the pre-agreed time, as the owner had overslept.
All in all it didn't seem very well run. With the noise and proximity to animals and the family it felt like much more of a homestay.
Besides Blomfield house, Bath is a fantastic place to visit and stay. We would recommend Bath and it's attractions to anyone.
