“Fantastic breakfast!”

Carfax Hotel

We've just come back from a 2 night stay in The Carfax - stayed in room 17 which was a lovely size, 2 chairs and coffee table in the bay as mentioned in a previous review (it was a 'Plus' room). Couldn't fault the hotel or staff-all very friendly and helpful. Free parking is a bonus. In Bath many of the hotels don't have parking and it can add on quite a bit of money and hassle to your stay.

There's no alcohol served in the hotel, which we kinda missed as it's nice to have a nightcap before bed-of course, you can always take your own for in your room.

The breakfast - well, what can I say? Freshly cooked, order whatever you like, however you like it and they're happy to oblige. As a vegetarian it was a special treat to have some wonderfully tasty veggie sausages, with hash browns etc.
We'd definately stay here again, the location is ideal for all Bath has to offer and the hotel is great.

The highlight of our stay? the Bath Thermae Spa with the outdoor pool. Skin as soft as a baby's afterwards, and incredibly relaxing.

“A great location....”

Carfax Hotel

The Carfax hotel is situated in an ideal place to explore the city. Great Pulteny street is a stones throw from the Great Pulteny Bridge. The hotel has a small car park at the back, which holds about 8 or so cars. If there is no room the Hotel will give you an on street parking pemit for the duration of your stay. We stayed in a Double room on the top floor (47) and it was very nice. The only problem we could find was that you could hear everything next door. I'm afraid the walls are like paper. Also when the outer corridor shuts, it sends a shockwave through the room. There is a nice sized power shower in the bathroom with the normal shampoos etc. In the summer the room can become very hot, so we left the window open every night - not much traffic noise. Breakfast is served between 7.30am - 09.30am. Your continental breakfast consists of egg, sausage.bacon, beans, tomato, hash brown and fried bread. These are all fairtrade, so taste absolutely fabulous. Dont be afraid to ask for extra toast as this gets you a nice mixed rack. There is also a cereal counter with all sorts of cereals, yogurts & fruit etc. We didnt eat dinner at the hotel so cant really comment on that. The hotel has no license, so cant sell alcohol. You are also asked to not bring your own into the sitting / dining area as well. We were a little bit dissapointed with this as sometimes its nice to have a drink before retiring to your room at night. That said there are loads of nice bars and retaurants very close by. try Strada, a nice italion restaurant or the Thai balcony was very nice. This is a very nice hotel.

“Absolutely Fabulous!!”

Carfax Hotel

My Husband and I have for the longest time wanted to see the Roman Baths. We aren't exaclty well off - Being a young couple- but we love to travel and wanted to treat ourselves.
Having read the reviews on trip advisor we decided to place a call to carfax and made a telephone booking.

To begin with, the location of this hotel is GREAT, don't even come to bath driving (although even if you do there is plenty of parking as we were told). The sites are a stone throw away. Even the Bath City tour company has a stop near the entrance of Carfax.
On reaching the Hotel, the reception staff were so friendly and welcomed us, making the checking in process easy.

The rooms were very spacious, we kept wondering why all the space..but it was great because the way the room is constructed ladies, you have a place to prepare for your man as there is some sort of dressing room partioned off the room and connecting the bathroom. It was very good.
There were also very many mirrors! I just loved it.

The room was spotless clean, everything smelled so fresh and nice. So it makes your stay all the more pleasant. The beds however are a bit soft if you sit on them as opposed to lying down, so for those of you who may want hard matresses i don't know...

We didn't have dinner at the hotel, we decided to eat at Sunny Luns(Not to sure of spelling).
Breakfast was really good, great selection. My husband and I would sit at the breakfast and really eat like Kings, we were always last to leave.

on our second night, there was A bath tv channel programmed for us that showed all the great places to visit and dine at bath. called Bath City TV i believe.
We stayed at the Carfax for 2 nights but it was good value for money, i highly recommend Carfax for those looking for relaxation and value for money.

All the best!

“Great hotel, location and value!”

Just returned from a trip to Somerset, Dorset and Devon and we spent our first night at the Carfax in Bath. We loved the hotel. The location is great - within walking distance to most of the sites you want to see in Bath. We had a superior double room (#27) which was very spacious and comfy, with a nice size bathroom and a shower/bath with plenty of hot water. The room was in the front of the hotel with a great view of the rugby/cricket grounds. It is on the 3rd foor, and they DO have an elevator (we've learned not to assume this in UK). The hotel staff were very accomodating, arranging for early check in after our overnight flight from the US and providing great advice on dining, directions and spa reservations. The room rate includes breakfast which was very good. I wish we could have spent more of our trip based at the Carfax. We would definitely return!

“Fabulous Carfax Hotel in Bath”

We have just returned from the Carfax Hotel in Bath after celebrating my wifes 40th birthday. We stayed in room 17 which is on the 1st floor to the rear of the hotel overlooking Henrietta Park. It was beautiful ! We paid for a "Double Plus" room which was a large room, complete with coffee table and 2 chairs by the large sash window and an ensuite with bath/shower.
This hotel is situated on Great Pultney street which leads onto the famous "Pultney Bridge". As the hotel is equipped with parking at the rear, there was no need for the car until our journey home as all the major sights are within a few minutes walk. We had a fantastic "Bath Breakfast" (Full English) and although the hotel is not licenced, the friendly staff were more than obliging in putting a bottle of Champagne we had taken with us, in their fridge. We enjoyed the open top bus tour and the Roman Baths are a "Must see" Try the fabulous "Thai Balcony" restaurant, it was excellent. As we had beautiful weather, we even made use of the hotels complementary deckchairs and took them into Henrietta Park for an hour to enjoy the peace and quiet in the sunshine.
