I travel a lot in my job, spending most of my week days in a hotel somewhere in the country. I have been to Leeds before and stayed at some "big brand" hotels, I wont disgrace them here, they know who they are! I had been booked into my hotel The Leeds Met and arrived to quite a charming, chic little boutique style hotel. The building on arrival looks quite small and inconspicuous, almost elite like where you have to know about this delightful little place. I walked up to the historical looking front doors and through the wall of glass into a bright and shimmering reception where my bags were taken from my hand by a gentleman in the lobby. Check in was quick and the young lady behind reception explained the usual, dinner, pepers, wake up call etc. We also had a laugh and a joke too, makes a change when you see the human side of people when visiting so many hotels! Really made me feel welcome as I went to my room. The room was on the 2nd floor on the back corner overlooking the carpark with was fine as I got quite a lot of light in the room from the huge tall windows on both sides of the room. My bathroom was tiled white matt and had frosted pale green glass shelving. The units were white with chrome accessories and large heated chrome towel rail. A very clean and fresh looking bathroom. The neutral decor in the room itself was quite calming and tasteful, offset by splashes of subtle pastel colours in pictures and soft furnishings. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was soooo comfortable, I even understand from a work colleauge who also stayed at the hotel that he was able to purchase new bed duvets and pillows from the hotel on special order. The snow pillows really helped me sleep well ready for the seminar the next day. The hotel was quiet inside but not deadly, there were still people moving about and the staff looked busy but all had time to say hello as we passed in the corridors. The restaurant and bar is very deceptive, on first impressions it looks quite small however once inside and your eyes have adjusted to the subtle mood lighting and the rich decor the room seems to open up and feel cosy and comfortable. The hotel has charachter and traditional aspects which the company who own it have obviously kept and turned ito features whilst they also seem to have understood what us seasoned travellers need and like the most. Charm, Convenience and Attentive.
All in all - an exceptionally pleasing stay at a little hidden gem right in the heart of the city where professional staff look after guests caring for their most demanding needs,,,, like my honey and lemon tea at 11pm!
