Booked several nights accommodation throughout Angelsey for our wedding anniversary. Hubby wanted to travel up on the wed night instead, so I booked this hotel on LateRooms a couple of nights before. We turned up at 9pm and the hotel looked gorgeous, lit up and on a lovely little street. We parked in the hotels private car park which is locked over night.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by staff and shown to reception. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and we had been upgraded to a superior room, Room 108. (We paid £79 B&B). The corridors are filled with the most amazing bits & pieces of furniture, lamps, etc and is really cosy. When we entered the bedroom, I was speechless! It has an amazing bed and the decor is outstanding. Then, I noticed the little window seat! (Hubby was now playing with the flat screen tv & remote!).
The bathroom was even more exciting, huge shower, modern fittings and clean! (I was in the hotel industry for years and I was determined to find something amiss! So i even ran my fingers over the top of the door frames and even those were clean - Housekeeping gets a big 10/10 from me!).
We popped out to have a look at the castle & the harbour, returning late. We were met by the night porter who was happy to serve us with a bottle of wine and we took it outside in the garden area at the back which was alright until all the lights went out, no problem, the night porter brings us a candle.
We had a great nights sleep, lovely hot shower with lots of fresh clean towels and a little basket of products available.
Then down to breakfast, we were greeted at the dining room, shown to a lovely table in the window and then ate the biggest cooked breakfast! There is a table in the dining room with cereals, pastries, jucies, breads, etc if you don't want a cooked breakfast. (A nice touch is the history of the paintings in the dining room on the back of the menu)
We then checked out. Both arriving and checking out we were offered help with our bags.
This hotel was perfect. It's definately looked after and you can tell a lot of effort has been put in to make guests stay as comfortable as possible. The staff are attentive and were always smiling.
Will definately be returning and would definately recommend it!
I've read some of the other reviews and can't comment on the noise from staying at the front of hotel as we stayed at such a quiet time of year. But (this is for the owners) Please, don't put double glazing in those fantastic windows! Explain to the guests its hundreds of years old, its a piece of history and give them ear plugs ;0)
