We have stayed at the High Cabin and the Groes (who has ownership) on many occasions, with faultless ease. The Cabin Hot tub views are spectacular especially on frosty evenings, and balmy summer dusks. I remember on one occasion enjoying a glass of wine and watching the snow drift down all while enjoying the hot steam from the tub rising into the cold evening air, and thinking "this is definately the life!".
If you want peace and relaxation with the occasional rural baa or bark, to break the silence then this is the place. The place isnt totally isolated with a farmhouse etc visible through the trees, but has the feel of tranquility that most of us with hectic lives yearn for. Set up high, theres a winding one track lane to manage before arrival, but that leaves a sense of finding treasure when eventually discovering this hidaway.
Over the past few years, the noticable visits of the guests have left their mark on this once immaculate destination, such as the burnt marks that were left on decking etc from a visitors portable barbie!. Yet the Groes staff do work to maintain its delight and any problems reported to them gets their attention.
It is a beautiful, relaxing and tranquil place to be with the luxury and comfort desired. It would benefit from a greetings or welcome pack, of goodies from the wonderful food selection the Groes Inn itself has to offer, as the Cabin is not cheap.
