“High Cabin relaxation”

The High Cabin Conwy

Jun 1, 2008

We have stayed at the High Cabin and the Groes (who has ownership) on many occasions, with faultless ease. The Cabin Hot tub views are spectacular especially on frosty evenings, and balmy summer dusks. I remember on one occasion enjoying a glass of wine and watching the snow drift down all while enjoying the hot steam from the tub rising into the cold evening air, and thinking "this is definately the life!".
If you want peace and relaxation with the occasional rural baa or bark, to break the silence then this is the place. The place isnt totally isolated with a farmhouse etc visible through the trees, but has the feel of tranquility that most of us with hectic lives yearn for. Set up high, theres a winding one track lane to manage before arrival, but that leaves a sense of finding treasure when eventually discovering this hidaway.
Over the past few years, the noticable visits of the guests have left their mark on this once immaculate destination, such as the burnt marks that were left on decking etc from a visitors portable barbie!. Yet the Groes staff do work to maintain its delight and any problems reported to them gets their attention.
It is a beautiful, relaxing and tranquil place to be with the luxury and comfort desired. It would benefit from a greetings or welcome pack, of goodies from the wonderful food selection the Groes Inn itself has to offer, as the Cabin is not cheap.

“Perfect relaxation”

The High Cabin Conwy

May 23, 2008

Have just returned from a couple of days at the High Cabin, Conwy, a place for perfect relaxation, away from it all with views to die for.
Having read previous reviews, we knew the cabin had neighbours (didn't see anyone the whole of our visit) and that the neighbouring farm had a few dogs (occasionally they barked !!, well they are dogs).
The cabin is still very private, very peaceful, maintained to a very high standard and a perfect place to relax.
Fantastic views of Snowdonia, especially from the hot tub.
Bring your food and wine / champagne and lock yourself away for a couple of days or more.
More perfect than we could have wished for.
We wanted to stop the world and get off ,and for a couple of days we did.

“Your own little Cabin in the mountains”

The High Cabin Conwy

May 9, 2008

This is just a great escape place. Half the excitement is finding the place up the windy roads and finding your own little retreat. The setting is perfect with great views over the snowdonia and the hot tub is my favourite experience with a glass of champagne watching the sun set. Even more fun is trying to relax in the hammock.. not easy stuff! The cabin is well accomodated and stylish, and with the heated verandah makes it perfect to sit out and chill and watch the stars. Only slight disappointment was other cabins nearby and the website seemed to indicate you were the only person in the area, also can hear barking dogs from a kennels. But this annoyance really pales into significance as you chill and enjoy the views. Take someone you love and have a great time in each others company! It is expensive but its like your own little private hotel, and waking up to the views is ace! Just planning a second trip!

“A little piece of heaven”

The High Cabin Conwy

We have stayed at the high cabin twice now, and it is just amazing!

The views definatley make the log cabin special, as well as the hot tub!

I would point out the the high cabin in not quite as private as advertised as you do have neighbours very near by and one of these over looks the hot tub from one window. There is also a very vocal farm dog next door!

I would also comment that some attention to detail is lacking, which at the price charged is not very good. Examples of this lack of attention to detail includes:

1) The pots. pans, plates and some drinkwear really needs replacing as it is dirty/chipped/badly scrathed. I put it all in the dishwasher before using it.
2) There is only one sun lounger, yet 4 normal deck chairs. I imagin mainly couples rent this place, so what good are 4 deck chairs, it would be good to get rid of two of the deck chairs and have another lounger.
3) A screen could do with being put up on one side of the hot tub so it feels more private
4) A welcome gift of basic provisions and wine would be welcomed. I have stayed in cheper log cabins which provide this as standard.
5) There is no where to put your drinks while you are in the hot tub, you have to place your glass on the floor and try not to fall out whilst reaching for it! There is no table provided to help the situation. Most hot tub have somewhere to rest drinks.

The above are small concerns however, when more and more things start to lack attention to detail, yet the price to stay is so expensive, this rings warning bells to me that more areas/things will be neglected.

Overall we did have a lovely stay and really hope to return. Please don't let me comments put you off as the High Cabin is a really lovely place, just don't expect 5 star.

“The High Cabin - not to be missed for all the tea in china !!”

The High Cabin Conwy

Wow, wow, and wow again !. The high cabin is a lodge located some two miles from the Groes, and it has all the luxury you could ask for. Hot tub overlooking Snowdonia is the ultimate in 'best places to drink a bottle of champagne' options, and the joy just goes on. We are on our third stay now and just get more excited each time we book. Go on, spoil yourselves. The Cabin is not cheap, but then again, neither are Gucci shoes, or Cartier watches. Sometimes, the best things in life are not free !. Anyone who knows of similar places around the UK, please get in touch. There should be a book dedicated to places like this.
