Stayed in 'Augusta' in the Townhouse this weekend. It was a group booking for a friends wedding - but had no regrets about the location.

Our room Augusta caters for disabled customers - and it seemed very well fitted out to us - although within 5 mins my partner had pulled the emergency pull thinking it was a light switch. Oops! Luckily there is a reset button nearby!

The front reception were very helpful - printing maps and directions for us - but this was only needed as we couldnt get the internet access to work in the room.

Yes the breakfasts werent quick - but we had papers to read - and they even made me a lovely hot chocolate from the bar downstairs as I dont dronk tea or coffee. And we had laverbread as part of the full welsh - fantastic.

Thought the location of the hotel was great - dead easy to find as off a main road, just opposite Wind St (if you want a 'lively night out'!), 100 yards from the fanatstic new Waterfront Museum - well worth 2+ hours of your time. Unfortunately we didnt get a chance to wander around the marina (it was a very wet weekend....) but I certainly would next time.

We didn't eat in the formal restaurant but did in the bar area. It had a nice selection of simple meals, fishcakes, burgers, cheese platters etc which went down well.

For £100 a night incl breakfast I thought it was value for money

This was the 3rd time we have stayed at The Morgans (town house) in 12 months and just think it is brilliant value for money £75 per room (on line) including a Welsh cooked breakfast x 2 which was a waiteress service (no fighting over bits of old dryed up food!) where they use local produce as much as they can add that up along with plasma TV's on the wall of your room CD,DVD system, kingsize beds, nicely decorated rooms/bathrooms,free secure CCTV parking, free newspapers around the hotel,a libary, late check out.....Definatly worth the money!

But they do need to keep on top of the little touches that we noticed have slipped a bit since our first visit!!

9/10.

I was excited to hear that Swansea had a five star hotel so I booked a room when visiting family. On arrival, when we tried to book a table for dinner we were told that the restaurant was closed for a wedding. I said that I thought this should have been mentioned when I booked the room and asked for a recommendation for another restaurant. I was told that if I head towards town there are loads of restaurants around there. No offer was made to make a reservation or even any real recommendation. The room was freezing (This was a stormy night in December) and we had to plug in a spare heater we found in the wardrobe. We didn't get to eat because the street into town was closed by police. Breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive and the soggy scrambled egg was inedible.

Just had to take my girlfriend to Morgan's as I had stayed there several times on business trips. I booked only two days before arrival and we got the room called 'Cwm Donkin' I wanted as it is modified for disabled use (girlfriend has MS).

Some of the following is going to read as being 'picky' but when you pay £125 per night I think you have the right for high expectations to be met.

A few observations on the rooms generally is the hopelessly inadequate lighting for reading in bed (Sunday Paper in bed is part of my relaxation at weekends). The staff & owners are well aware of the lights issue but do not seem to want / need to resolve it. Also somewhat strange airconditioning controls that have no effect on temperature whatsoever - we just turned it off! Well stocked but as usual over priced minibar that I already knew about so I took my own bottle of bubbly and used the fridge to chill it.

'Cwm Donkin' bathroom has a double shower that is a big plus, and a heated backlit mirror so you can shave (or do make-up) even with someone enjoying a steamy shower. Towel rail above toilet could be lower for disabled guests to reach - they do not always have someone like me to help out.

Staff were very helpful and we managed to get a table even though there was a big party occupying the main restaurant area - food wine and service all excellent! Breakfast superb - porridge fantastic. Bar service good - cocktails well made but need better descriptions on the list. The sail over the outside deck area is looking tired and in need of renewal - any sailor worth his salt would be ashamed of it.

Do not forget to reserve a parking space if arriving by car as there seems to be fewer sapces than rooms now that the hotel has the Townhouse annexe just across the road. Townhouse is great value starting at a room rate of £85 if you cannot stretch to the £125 per night starting price in main building (never known the £100 room to be available). They go up to a stratospheric £250 per night.

Other restaurant to try nearby is La Brasseria allegedly frequenrted by Michael Douglas and Katherine Zeta Jones when they are staying at one of their homes in the area. Morgan's has a room called Zeta - all the others are named after ships which is fitting as the building was once the Port authority offices.

We knew we were staying in the Townhouses, and the fact that it is 30 seconds walk from the main hotel is of no real consequence to your stay.

Check-in was fine, we were led over to our room by a friendly porter. The first thing we noticed on entering the room was a smell - and not a good one. We thought an open window would help, but after about half an hour we had to call reception. The manageress and porter were over in 5 minutes armed with cleaning materials and spent time trying to clean the drains in the bathroom, and left us some air freshener. They couldn't move us as the hotel was fully booked. The smell did dissipate eventually, and our room bill was reduced by one third as compensation, which was a satisfactory outcome.

The room itself was a good size and clean, with a high-end bathroom (and yes, the lovely Molton Brown stuff!). Our room on the third floor had no air-conditioning, and so was quite warm, although other rooms do have it. Some rooms are bigger than others, even at the same price - but at £75 for a internet-booking, you're talking £16 more than a standard Travelodge or similar, and your breakfast is included here. It also makes a change from identikit budget hotels. If any disappointments surface when you stay here, think about what else you could get for comparable prices and be thankful!

The main hotel is lovely, nice and big, high ceilings. The main bar in the evening was nice, but a rather noisy gathering all seemingly hanging around the entrance didn't seem to quite fit the hotel's image.

Breakfast is served in a very large dining room, with waiter/waitress service for cooked items, and a good choice of self-serve croissants, pain au chocolat, yoghurt, cereal, fruit juice etc.

Would certainly stay here again if in the area!
