Just returned from a weekend in Penarth, S. Wales and had the misfortune to have stayed in The Glendale Hotel. We had to visit family urgently and, unfortunately, due to The Police concert in Cardiff, this was the only vacancy we could find. Had this not been the case we would quite happily of returned home.
The room we were allocated was damp and dirty, some of the bedding was stained (although the sheets and towels were clean) and one of the beds was propped up by bricks!! The bathroom was damp and mouldy , the shower curtain was disgusting, the toilet moved and the bath, a cast iron avocado coloured suite, was chipped in numerous places.
All the public rooms including the restaurant were breakfast was served were dark and dingy and looked old fashioned and dirty. The pot of tea served with the breakfast was cold - it was possible to get hotter water out of a tap.
This hotel is vastly over-priced and needs a complete refurbishment and, until that is done, I would recommed that people DO NOT stay here no matter how desperate they are.
