Stayed here in 2005. Were initially provided with a double room that looked like it was recently renovated. Was nice.

Later that day water begin to pour down over inside of window from above. We were told it was due to someone upstair leaving bath running. I'm not convinced this was the issue as all that would take is a visit to said room to turn off water. This did not happen! We were moved to an older/smaller room - not at all great.

Location is very good. Food was fair.

“Worst Hotel Experience - Europa!”

Europa Hotel - Belfast

I use to stay in the Europa back in the early 90's. Then it was one of the best hotels around.

On returning to do some business in Belfast, I was astonished how bad the hotel was!. I was intially given a room that had last been decorated in the early 90's. It was filthy. The floor was undergoing refrubishment and there were wires hanging out of walls. After complaining I was moved to a refurbished floor. It was better, but under no cirumstances will I ever set foot in that hotel again. It needs to be totally rebuilt.. the refurbished rooms are 3*.

Am happy to have returned to belfast since, and I stay in the Raddisson. A business hotel, with no frills. But its clean and good rooms.

“fantastic location staff fantastic”

Europa Hotel - Belfast

recently stayed in the hotel for two night . on arrival the staff were so fantastic, and welcoming . however, i was very disappointed, frustrated to have been woken up at 8 am with some bagging from upstairs, sounded more like somebody bushing the ceiling just above my room, and to make matters worse, a man shouting on top of his voice, screaming at a crying child. generally speaking the staff and the hotel was alright and would probably recommend it to anybody based on the location and the lovely and efficient staff, and hopefully the bagging and shouting man would have stopped.

“Bedbugs”

Europa Hotel - Belfast

Jun 16, 2007
6/7 found this review helpful

Came back from breakfast to find a bedbug crawling on my bedsheets. Didn't know what it was, but killed it, thinking it was just a bug. Our tour was getting ready to leave in a few minutes and I picked up a book I had sitting on a chair and there was a bug on it! I went down to report the bugs in my room and was told that they'd never had a problem before. Right! The housekeeping manager came up to the room and confirmed that both bugs were bedbugs. No apology. No offer to help limit the infestation that was sure to be in my bags! Our tour left immediately to go on to Scotland. I decided to find an exterminator at our next destination, hire them and send the bill to the Europa. When I told our tour guide that she advised me to just pretend it didn't happen because the Europa would just say I'd brought them in and I might be detained!!!!!!!!!! We've been home for a week now and so far -- no signs of any bugs. But from what I've been reading I have a better chance of winning the lottery than escaping an infestation. To say I'm FURIOUS, doesn't even begin to describe it! If you have reservations at the Europa in Belfast CANCEL THEM! You'd be safer sleeping in the bus station!

“Europa the terrible.......”

Europa Hotel - Belfast

May 31, 2007
3/4 found this review helpful

I stayed at the Europa on the 29th & 30th May 2007. I was based on the 3rd floor in one of the “non newly furnished” rooms.

The reception is good which gave a good impression of the hotel as I had heard mixed reviews of the hotel, good and bad.

My review of the hotel is:

•The bedrooms are very shabby and out of date.

•The facilties in the room are old and need renewing

•The 3rd floor stank of chip fat which came from the direction of the temporary guest lift, which I have now learnt from a local that has smelt like chip fat for years.

•My room was a front facing room and over looked the famous bar the Crown and another bar called Robinsons. I could hear the music from Robinsons until 1am which kept me awake and when I called reception, they were very dismissive and seemed to just reel out a standard line as if they had heard the same complaint a hundred times.

•The breakfast is mediocre to say the least and had a very limited selection of fresh fruit, it had lots of fatty foods mind you (if you like that sort of thing).

Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, there are plenty of other better hotels in the area and if you do your research I sure you will be able to find one.
