Unfortunately the photo of the outside of this B&B is better than what you will find inside. Our room was a bit tired looking. The mattress on the bed was old and just not comfortable. All the furniture is more shabby than shabby chic. Water pressure in the shower is ok.
The host, Jerry, is efficient but not a real friendly guy. His breakfasts are good and, as you pre-order the night before, are served just when you want them. The dining room is tiny but in a way that was okay as we got chatting easily with other travellers even though we were seated at separate tables. It's the usual Irish fry and cereals. The porridge is good.
The location is convenient with a short bus ride downtown. Leave your car in the B&B's car park. Or at the car rental...you really don't need a car in Belfast until you drive up the coast.
There are a few restaurants about a half hour walk away near Queen's University.
The real downside of this location is that on a weekend it sounds like you are on a freeway with cars speeding by till 3:30 AM. Hard to sleep as we had to leave the window open. Malone is a very busy street. There are some beautiful homes in the area and we had a couple of nice walks through the neighbourhood.
