“Friendly Killead Lodge”

Killead Lodge Guest House

5 of 5 stars
North Bay, Ontario
Jun 27, 2008

We just returned from a 3 week tour of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. The Killead Lodge was one of our favourite B&Bs during our vacation. Ray and Hiliary made us feel very welcome. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfasts and there was always plenty to eat. Homemade jams where an added special touch. A couple of examples of going above and beyond normal service.. When I was unable to use my laptop, Ray graciously offered his computer to me to check emails. Another Sunday evening while I was sitting in the garden Hiliary was good enough to make me a delicious brandy sour to enjoy while I relaxed. It was these special touches the made of experiences at the Killean lodge most memorable.

“Belfast Oasis”

Killead Lodge Guest House

Jun 24, 2008

If you are looking for a clean and welcoming place to stay with warm and helpful hosts this is the B&B for you. Ray and Hilary made us feel at home, and their recommendations on local restaurants and tour operators in Belfast were very helpful. We passed through Belfast on the last leg of our self-drive journey through the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland. The location of Killead is ideal for those who have had little to no experience driving on the left side of the road and who may therefore wish to avoid inner-city driving. Killead is also convenient for travelers who are arriving or departing from Belfast International Airport.

Add to this already wonderful stay, a delicious full Ulster breakfast that will get you started on the right foot in the morning.

Thank you Hilary and Ray!

Killead Lodge Guest House

5 of 5 stars
Oregon
Jun 13, 2008

Three women from Oregon stayed at Killead for three nights in March. The Lodge was impeccably clean. Our hosts were wonderfully friendly, without being intrusive, and extremely helpful. The Lodge is very close to the Belfast Intl Airport, yet the sound of planes never disturbed our sleep. Beautiful landscaping and breakfast solarium, and we especially enjoyed the outdoor cats peeking in the windows as we enjoyed the great breakfasts.

“Fantastic home away from home”

Killead Lodge Guest House

May 30, 2008

My husband and I stayed with Hilary and Ray last week on our trip to Northern Ireland - the first time we've ever stayed at a B & B. The room was large and comfortable, with a tea service and beautiful views of their back garden and the cows on the farm next door. The queen-sized bed was comfortable and it was very quiet that night, allowing us to sleep soundly. Breakfast the next morning was amazing - a huge spread of food, including homemade breakfast bars, which my husband just loved. Ray and Hilary couldn't have been more welcoming, and we wished we were staying more than one night. I would definitely recommend staying with them if you have a trip that takes you to the Belfast area.

“Wouldn't Stay Anywhere Else in Belfast”

Killead Lodge Guest House

May 11, 2008

I travel to Belfast regularly on business and have tried a number of different accommodations, including Maddisons (ok) Tara Lodge (very nice) Sommerton House (give it a miss) and Benedicts (nice) However Killead Lodge is by far the best (and cheapest) of them all.
The accommodation itself is first class. Spacious modern rooms which have soft furnishings, a very comfy bed and is immaculately clean. As well as en-suite shower rooms there is a large bathroom so guests can have a bath if they feel like it. There's also a lovely sitting room with TV, games, books and maps.
The breakfasts are scrumptious, with freshly squeezed orange juice (and I mean freshly squeezed!) and fresh fruit salad, as well as a range of options for brekkie.
The location is not ideal if you want to walk to the pubs and clubs but it's only a 20 minute drive to Belfast centre, and even though it's next to the airport, I never hear the planes and feel as if I'm out in the country.
But the thing that sets Killead Lodge apart from all the others is all the small touches that Hillary & Ray add to your stay. Breakfast is served at a time that suits you, not the owners. Delicious evening meals can be prepared if required. I always like fresh milk when I'm drinking tea, and when Hillary noticed I had bought some milk for my room, she put a flask of fresh milk in my room each day. All of the other places I've stayed could learn valuable lessons from Killead Lodge (especially Sommerton House B&B!)
and I would highly recommend it.
