My boyfriend and I took the sleeper up from London - St Andrews for a friend's wedding in September, and stayed for a night at the Aslar Guest House. The place itself was great (perfect location, lovely breakfast, spacious well equipped modern rooms), but the place is made even more perfect by the couple that run the guest house - Stan and Mary. When we arrived, tired and grubby, from the sleeper at 8am
in on Sat morning, they took our luggage, offered to ring us when our friends already staying at the Aslar came down to breakfast, and had our room ready by 10am.

The morning after the wedding, after an amazing breakfast, they offered to keep our luggage until 7pm that evening while we wandered
around St Andrews - and apologised that they couldn't hold on to it any later as they were due to go out that evening! Then, when we turned up at 7pm to collect our luggage, and they realised I was feeling a bit ill and we were wondering what to do with our time before our sleeper train at 11pm, they took us to their living room, made us tea, and offered us their sofa and TV to flop on until we were due to catch our train, 4 hours later.

I can't believe that people so nice, efficient, friendly, and well intentioned actually exist! We might have to go to St Andrews purely just to stay at the Aslar again!

This was the best B&B my husband and I stayed in during our 2-week trip to Scotland (we stayed in 5 other places). Stan and Mary were incredibly nice, hospitable, and earned their 4 stars through those qualities alone. Not to mention the breakfast, which was a feast to behold, including a wonderful array of fresh fruits, berries, nuts and a top-notch cooked breakfast. We were sad to leave Aslar!

We were there for the Women's British Open. This place is great. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. Rooms very spacious. Stan and Mary go the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay. Great location!
