“Magic!”

Castlemount

Jul 3, 2008

I didn't made a reservation, I stopped and I was just lucky to get the last room free. The location is unique: infront of it there is the old Castle of the famous golf town and the sea.
The room was clean, victorian furniture, warm, with a private bathroom. The brekfast was excellent, more than wat I get in the past from some Hotels. The price was right for the service I got.
I was by myself, but being with my partner it would be more than perfect!
I suggest this place to whom would like to live intense emotion and has just one-two days.

“A wee gem, but watch out for the lady in pink!”

The house is full of character.....the location gets an A+......and the landlady is very welcoming and friendly.......

However, we accidentally exited the house through the wrong door and a lady (the daughter?) with a dog who was entering the house at the same time was very rude to us about it. Also, it was impossible for us to open any windows, so all four of us experienced a long, hot and uncomfortable night.

“Perfect Location and a Lovely Place”

My daughter and I stayed at the Castlemount when visiting St Andrews University for an open day. We had a terrible journey north - puncture - and arrived three hours later than we intended. It was lovely to receive an understanding welcome from the owners. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The house itself is right opposite the castle and the seashore with fantastic views from the breakfast room. It is in a quiet location but you are within 5 minutes walk of restaurants, bars, pubs and the university itself. Parking is free on the street and easy if you arrive after 5pm and leave your car there, which we did.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious - fantastic poached eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms and even pancakes - a good combination of Scottish and American food!
We loved St Andrews and the Castlemount and would definitely stay here again - couldn't be better located for a university visit, or golf.

“Great Stay at Castlemount”

This was our second stay at the Castlemount and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were looking for somewhere special to stay for my mother's 80th birthday and this fitted the bill perfectly.

Her room had a wonderful view of St Andrews Castle and the sea beyond. She said it couldn't have been more comfortable and was like a home-from-home.

We had the Patio room which was very spacious and had a lovely view over the back garden which was very peaceful. All our needs were catered for.

Breakfast really set us up for the day. As well as the cereal, toast, full cooked breakfast and tea and coffee there was the best fresh fruit salad I have had in a long time. My mother loved Jerry's special buttermilk pancakes and maple syrup.

Castlemount is ideally situated for walking around the town and seeing the sights. There are a lot of personal touches which make it really special and the attention to detail is obvious.

We will certainly stay here again and thoroughly recommend it.
