“Wonderful Relaxing break”

Buswells Hotel

This hotel is in the best location for the city of Dublin. It is right next to the irish parlament building, shops and bars. The food was excellent starting from the irish breakfast to the bar meals and there restaurant food is heaven. The room was on the first floor and very clean and spacious with a lovely ensuite with a good bath and powerful shower.
The staff on reception were excellent and Ash in the bar was really polite and charming.
We had a wonderful romantic stay in the city and the hotel really made it.

“Super location and good hotel”

Buswells Hotel

I spend some time trying to find a hotel in Dublin as close to the city center as possible.

There are of course many right in the middle of the action but some of them suffer from noice which is very natural considering their location. But I´m glad I found the Buswells.

The location of this hotel is in my opinion excellent as it is in a quiet street but only 3 minutes walk to Grafton Street..

The room wasn´t big but it wasn´t small either. It was very , very clean. We had a room in a quiet part of the hotel but the truth was, that it didn´t seem to be too many guests.

People at the lobby were helpful and phoned the Kilmanhaim Gaol to find out for us if they had open that day (Friday in Easter).

The breakfast included was tasty too.

I booked directly with the hotel through internet and got a quiet good price.

All in all: a good hotel in a perfect location if you want to explore the city center. Highly recommended!
Best regards!

“Not great value”

Stayed for St. Patricks weekend 16th & 17th March 2008. At first glance everything was fine, a great location and a superb entrance lobby. Reception was a little slow but they were a little busy.
Went to our triple room and it was ok. A little tired probably best describes it. There were things missing like no rubber doorstop in the bathroom but the screw that used to hold it in position was still there. Just three tea bags! The single bed had some rubish under it.
Got up early for Breakfast so we could get a good spot for the parade. On entering the dining room we were pleasantly greeted by the maitre de who had his shirt tails hanging out. We all had cereal and ordered a full Irish. This came before we had finished our cereal and was tepid at best.
We left our room key at reception and went out for the day. On our return at 14.50, we waited for approximately five minutes at reception before we were even acknowledged and then on request were given our key by a receptionist who looked like she would rather be somewhere else.
We went to our room which had not been serviced. I called reception to inform them of this and was told that they were busy and our room would be serviced shortly. 15 minutes later I was called by a young woman to ask if I would like my room serviced! I said yes and she arrived almost immediately. We left her to it and went to the bar for a drink.
When we returned to the room we again had three tea bags, the debris was still under the single bed and although the beds had been made, the sheets had not been changed.
Back down for breakfast. I ordered the Kippers and two full Irish. The Kippers were boil in the bag variety, not very appetising. Both the full Irish were again cold and this time were sent back. When returned with an apology they were the same breakfasts reheated.
Many small things were not quite right at Buswells and may sound petty, but when put together showed a lack of good customer care.
I payed a total of €390.00 for our B&B stay and have to stay that I have stayed in far better for far less.
Finally on a good note, the location is superb and there was live traditional music in the comfortable bar both days. S Byrne, Navan.

“Elegant and graceful”

Buswells Hotel

This is an elegant hotel in a great location; minutes from Trinity College, Grafton Street and St. Stephens Green, as well as right next to the National Gallery, National Museum and Leinster House. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of Temple Bar but you don’t feel removed from the action.
Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly by the reception staff. They gave us maps, asked us what types of sights we were interested in and showed us to get there. Our room wasn’t ready yet so they watched our luggage while we went to lunch and explored a bit.

We had a lovely, quiet room with a extra large bed and plush blankets and pillows. Everything was clean and well cared for and the antique furnishings that decorated our room and the public rooms were charming and graceful.

Breakfast was included and served in style. There was the typical European style breakfast: pastries, bread and croissants served with various jams and butter; a selection of smoked hams and cheeses, yogurts and cereals and lots of dried fruits. There was also a menu to order from that included traditional Irish breakfast items. Everything was fresh and kept cold and service was prompt.

I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet, upscale place to relax after pounding the pavement of Dublin all day. There are less expensive places to stay but this hotel had a lot of little extra touches that made it a great place to decompress after sightseeing all day. The lines were soft and thick, the food plentiful and fresh and the staff helpful and friendly.

“very mediocre Dublin base”

Buswells Hotel

First room had constant buzz from kitchens below.
2nd room was tiny & had a very sagy bed.
Only when we mentioned that we were staying for 3 days did they make any effort to find something better. ended up having an OK room up in the eaves.
New bathroom in our room, but the whole hotel above the ground floor is in dire need of a refurb. its looking very tired.
ground floor looks nice & "old hotel" style - dont be deceived by the pictures - the rooms are nothing like the main reception rooms.
Breakfast was OK, & staff were OK. Maitre'd was very helpfull.
I suppose our rooms saving grace was that we could climb through a small fire access door from our room directly onto a flat roof area, which had some great views.
Location was good to tour round Dublin, with some nice local restaurants & bars.
