Average best describes this hotel; stayed there the last weekend in March with my husband and 10 year old son. Firstly I counted 11 high rise cranes working in the immediate vicinity; the hotel is in the middle of a building site, be under no illusion at the moment the location is terrible. There are no restaurants apart from the hotels within the immediate area either. It is a good 20 minute walk to the centre of Dublin; we thought that we would enjoy the walk but on a lot of occasions it was raining so heavily we had no choice but to use a taxi – the fares varied widely from 8 to 20 Euro’s.

The rooms were that of a typical city centre business hotel; towels for 2 although 3 of us were in the room, we used the coffee sachets on the first night and they didn’t get refilled, no safe deposit or mini bar in the room. Breakfast was ok although the bacon was very undercooked, scrambled eggs were the only type of eggs available and there was no marmalade.

A word of warning when you checkout for those of you using UK credit cards; they bill you in Euros and the PDQ machine shows the rate in Euros but somewhere along the line they convert it to £’s and then charge a large commission for the privilage, so beware.

All in all we had a nice weekend but I definitely would not stay here again if only for the location, when all the development is finished in a year or two it may be a different story.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. Our hotel is located in an up and coming vibrant area and therefore there is a lot of construction within the area; unfortunately this is beyond our control. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel soon.

Best Regards

Ken Gilbride

“great value”

i stayed here on good friday, 21st march. the hotel bar was closed due to the religious holiday which was a bit disappointing. however, the rate was was 130 euro for 2 adults and one child bed and breakfast, including a family day pass to the zoo! the room was clean and spacious and well equipped.
i didnt use the pool. breakfast was lovely, and we got dinner to the room which was also great value for money. the location isnt great, as alot of construction in the area. however, we took the dublin bus into the centre to college green (very convenient to grafton street) at a rate of 1.25euro per adult and child was free! overall, a very pleasant experience and great value for money

“Did we really pay that much to stay there!!!!”

Quality Hotel Leisure Centre Dublin

Apr 14, 2008

What a complete disappointment. We travelled in a group of 9 to stay at what we thought would be a good 'quality' hotel, especially chosen just outside of the city centre to avoid the noisy night life.

After checking in myself and my friend were given the key to our room - number 105. We tried to find the said room only to find that the signs directing us started at 106. So we went back downstairs from the first floor to ask where the room was. A member of staff then directed us to the room which we found to be completely below the standard we expected. Upon investigating further and comparing this room with our friends, we came to the conclusion that it was a conference room made up as a bedroom complete without kettle, mirror, remote control - but with fold out beds. I think the give away clue was the projector screen which doubled up as a window blind - classy!!

So after complaining we were shown to another room a couple of doors down which was completely acceptable . . . . .

After a long day, we decided to retire to our room at 10.30. What a mistake!!! A 21st birthday party was in full swing right below our room. Not that we would deny anyone celebrating their special birthday with drinking and dancing - but couldnt the hotel have taken this into account when organising rooms for non participating party guests???

Anyhow - at 12.45 we decided to enquire at reception as to what time the music would cease. They informed us that it would be at 1am. The music stopped at 1.15 - but obvioulsy by the time everyone had left - the noise became tolerable at around 2.00.

We booked out the next day and really felt agreived that we had paid 149.00 euros to stay in a hotel where we really did expect a decent level of service for the money so we proceeded to complain . . . .

We spoke to the Duty manager - what a laugh!!!! - He rolled his eyes, snorted, scoffed and actually told us that we should expect noise from other guests when staying in a hotel!!!!! - We obvioulsy though he had misunderstood the level of noise we had experienced - so we explained again - he then patronisingly told us that the noise wasnt that bad. My friend (obvioulsy now worried about her hearing) asked him if he was on duty when the party was in full flow - he said not - what a guy - he can hear from miles away!!!!!!

To summarise - lovely hotel, but please be prepared to be treated like a complete idiot.

The complaints letter has been sent - so watch this space - and please Quality hotel - dont comment on this with your standard complaints template as with a previous reviewer - because although you say I would be very welcome back - dont wait up cos I dont think you could pay me enough to stay with you again!!!!!!

“Not A 4star hotel”

Quality Hotel Leisure Centre Dublin

Apr 10, 2008

Firstly the hotel is so faraway from everything, its a good 20-5 minute walk to the centre. Using taxis resulted in alot of expense
The hotel seemed to be located in a business district, and the views were let down by construction work everywhere.

I felt that the standard of the hotel, was definitley more like a 3 star than a 4 star.

However the rooms were nice, staff were pleasent. But if I had a choice I would opt for a 3star hotel closer to the centre.

“Great Hotel in quiet location”

Quality Hotel Leisure Centre Dublin

Apr 9, 2008

Fine hotel with great facilities, clean and tidy, a little out of the centre of Dublin but it makes it ideal for quieter nights, and close enough to walk with ease.

The hotel bar and restaurant were excellent and so is the gym facilities.

I found Dublin itself a little disappointing, more of an Irish theme park and advertisment for Guiness but I was there for business, others might prefer that. It was also January which didn't help I suppose.

Going again this week, for business, and staying at the same hotel which tells you a lot.
