“Great Value for Money”

Courtyard by Marriott Galway

Totally agree with the other reviewers. Stayed here for a weekend in Jan07.
Wasn't sure at first about the location - on the edge of shopping malls - but its actually really convenient. Had a hire car (so the free underground parking had swung it for me) and had taken our TomTom from home. Big mistake! I dropped a friend off in town enroute from the airport - the traffic in Galway itself is madness - fri and sat afternoons it was gridlocked - plus the one way system has totally changed so TomTom couldnt cope in the town centre!
Apart from the drive along the Connemare coast (which the hotel is perfectly placed for) we left the car in the carpark. Its a 10-15 min stroll into the town centre (most of it along a main road) - and a 5 min cab home at night.
The hotel itself still feels brand new. Rooms are typical business class with all mod cons. Didn't spend much time at the hotel - too much to explore with it being our first time to Galway - but slept perfectly - and just got up intime for breakfast both mornings.
Given that we were late down both mornings - breakfast buffet was fine. Had to wait for some things to be refreshed on the Sat - but Sunday was great - and much busier.
Would definately stay there again. Hint - research the diff websites - most had the rate as room only - whereas I found it with breakfast included. Bargain.

“Dissapointed”

I checked into the courtyard marriot in galway and the receptionist was very nice and really helpful, when i checked into my room i was pleasantly suprissed by the size of it, there was a very large queen size bed large tv, table and chairs great sized bathroom with nice toiletries. There is broadband available but unfortunatley is not free like most other hotels and is quite expensive at €3.50 per 30 mins and when you need to use the internet for business purposes you can be on it for a few hours and this is quite pricey, my company would probably prefer if i stayed in one of the other hotels that offer free broadband and save them some money.

The location is ok and not to far to galway city centre but the hotel location is oon a main road, in saying that about five mins away you can find a retail centre with cinema and shops + fast food outlets.

The food in the bar and restraunt was very bland and tastless, one particular night i ordered a filet steak and after waiting about 20 mins i got a sirlion steak so had to send it back and wait a further 15 mins for my dinner.

One night i left my breakfast room service order on my bedroom door at 10pm for the following mornong at 8:30am, 8:30 came and no sign of my breakfast so i decided to to see if my order was taken of my door handle out side and guess what? it was still there, i complained to reception and i had to go down to the restraunt for breakfast and was in a rush to get to work. While having my breakfast one of the waiters that served me the night before came to me and said that the the docket (bill) for my previous evenings meal was missing and asked me if i had it, i explained i signed it and left it in its holder with a 5 euro tip! they obviously lost it but i did offer to sign for it again anyway!

When i was checking out i was welcomed with a cloud of dust from work going on in the reception (which should have been done in the early morning before the place gets busy)

I dont think i will return to this hotel and my first impressions were not great.

Stayed in this hotel for the Galway Arts Festival last year. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious.
The location was fantastic, just a 5 minute taxi ride to the city centre.
The food was fab, great selection available for breakfast.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and answered all of our queries with a pleasant smile.
Would be happy to recommend this hotel to all and will def be staying there again when I return to Galway!

“Love this hotel”

Courtyard by Marriott Galway

Feb 12, 2007

Stayed in tis hotel for a weekend with a mate. We arrived late enough on the friday evening acould not have asked for a nicer, warmer welcome by the friendly receptionist. The room was lovely and had nothing to complain about. Vey modern clean and new! Location excellent and the hotel even orgainised our taxis into town (only couple of minutes in taxi) even though the taxi landed promptly the receptionist told us to relax take our time and finish our drink in the bar. Ordered room service at 2am sat night and it was excellent. Will DEFINITLY stay in this hotel again!!!!!!

“Nice hotel”

Stayed there for the weekend with my partner

Rooms very comfortable, proper 'blackout' curtains meant we slept late, and only just made it up for breakfast. Good buffet selection, not the most extensive I've ever seen but good all the same.

Ate in the reastaurant on arrival, nice bistro style, nothing too fancy, but good quality and served by attentive staff.

It's not a hotel with a view, as others have said, but it's 15min walk to the centre of Galway, (€6 -10 by taxi) and very handy for getting in and out of. Those who complained about it being a little far from Galway centre, have never experienced how bad the traffic can be!!
